Second visit in a year and was fantastic again. Fed giraffes & went to a few talks about various animals - very informative & funny stories. Staff very helpful.

An amazing place to visit for kids and adults alike. Hiring bikes and golf carts so much fun although bikes allow closer access than the carts do. Lots of tables/chairs and an ideal picnic spot so be sure to BYO own food. Get there early...More

Enjoyable visit, however there are a a lot of empty paddocks/fields. Animals are moved around as appropriate and new areas being prepared, however we were disappointed at the empty spaces. it was appreciated that we could drive our car to the various spots to see...More

Even in winter the zoo is a great place to visit. The animals are well looked after. The staff and volunteers are extremely helpful. Nothing is a rush. Great for all the family.

What a fabulous Zoo- loads of space, great animals and really well thought out grounds. The frogs, the birds, and they're just the residents... were terrific and really loved wandering around the lush and green landscapes enjoying the different animals. Used a buggy to get...More

Over the June long weekend my husband and I took our daughter to the Taronga Western Plains Zoo. We got there early (like, wait at the gates to open early). Being the long weekend we expected big crowds. You can hire carts and bikes- but...More

Absolutely worth the trip. Giraffe feeding and the Siamangs were worth it by themselves. The zoo itself is excellent!

I cannot rave high enough about this place! This place is set up to cruise around and check out the animals in a more natural environment. We hired bikes which is the best option as you can ride right up a mound right to the...More

We haven't visited this zoo for over 20 years, when our kids were young. Now it's grandchild's turn. Seeing wild animals penned in at zoos around the world is not necessarily a good look, but here, the land resource and acres for individual enclosures is...More

There is no pre-booking for the carts and the go very fast so the only option is to queue before opening at 9:00am. I arrived 9:30 and it was already a signage saying "next cart available 12:00" of course this happened on a... More
Hi, We're planning a trip here in August and wanted to know how many nights you stayed and if you think that it was enough? We too are planning to stay at the Savannah cabins, and at this stage thinking of staying 2 nights..so driving up on the Saturday, visit the zoo on Sunday and return home on the Monday. Would you recommend allocating 2 full days at the zoo?

We arrived mid afternoon so had about an hour and a half and all the next day I think two full days would be better, then you could also see the other sights of Dubbo

Pensioner prices about $33 each and yes you can safely drive around in you car. My advice start early like 9 to 9.30 as there is a program of events and talks from keepers as you go round.
