I went here as part of the Wexford Garden trail and was delighted to learn it was managed by the OPW. Tintern Abbey is part of the complex and I think I learned the poem in school

For a very reasonable price, a walk through the woods to and from the garden can be enjoyed. The garden is lovely and I had it all to myself on this occasion. I could just hear the birds singing and enjoying 'their' garden. I sat on a few of the benches for a spell and listened to the birdsong for a while

Well done to the people who manage it and the glorious border. Then it was off to the next OPW garden less than a 20 minute drive away, ythe JFK Arobritum.

We really enjoyed our visit to Colclough Gardens. They are painstakingly restored to a very high standard. There was a guide who gave us lots of background information which made it even more interesting. The fruit trees were full of apples, plums, gooseberries etc and the flowers were so beautiful. I would love to visit at another time of the year too to see what is in flower then. Highly recommended and we will be back for sure.

Visited recently while at Tintern Abbey. With covid it was a one way system with social distancing but could still enjoy all the flowers and apple trees. We were met by a friendly gardener at the entrance told all about the history and was very informative. I've never seen so may bees and butterflies! A great time of year to visit, and will certainly visit again.

This is definitely a go to place..at any time of year but especially in springtime when you are greeted with heady carpets of wild garlic and oceans of bluebells..magical and mystical with history at every turn..so close to Bannow Bay where the Norman's landed in 1169. The walled gardens are fantastic and a real credit to the crew who manage them..wonderful to learn of the history of so many plants making their way back to Tintern...so go and enjoy!!

The walled garden looked nothing like the photos which appear on the publicity material. Everywhere we saw neglect, need for investment, and dilapidation.
There were apples on the ground everywhere.
None of the plants were properly tended.
It appeared that the apples were being ploughed into lazy beds.
we saw a few gardeners wheeling empty wheelbarrows- but nobody was working at gardening.
The wall on the north side of the kitchen garden had fallen down. No effort was put in place of rebuild it. only palisade fencing for health and safety purposes.
A large bough had fallen from one tree and was left on the ground.
there were positives as well- the grapes were doing well. there was a great population of bees, butterflies and birds.

The garden is a place of tranquility and beauty with its own microclimate. It has a magical atmosphere, nestled as it is in beautiful woodland so near Tintern Abbey. Paul the head gardener has done stunning planting in the big borders. We were greeted by two lovely gents and given apples from the many apple trees in the garden. It is a real gem.

Our visit here was a real treat, the receptionist was delighted to give us a brief introductory presentation about the history of the gardens and was super willing to answer any questions. Walking the grounds of the walled garden was really interesting and since it was harvest season, we were invited to enjoy an apple or two if needed. So juicy and tasty they were too. Allow plenty of time to really absorb the beauty and skill of this site. Highly recommended

Delightful place to visit on a sunny afternoon. Really well kept and well organised with regards to the Covid 19 pandemic. Never seen so many apples growing on trees before. No credit card facilities at present...

A wonderfull place. Unusual as a walled garden as a stream runs through. Great setting. Combined ticket with Tintern Abbey was good family value. Lots of varieties of apples, veg, fruit & flowers. Full of butterflies & bees.

The perfect place for gardeners or those who like ruined abbeys. For those who love both, heaven. Stunningly kept garden. In a dell with steep banks and walls so protected from winds. Magnificent soil improved, I’d guess, by generations of compost. And a kitchen garden to die for. Lovely scent from the mixture of herbs especially lavender and roses. A sensuary delight. Fun too for small children as lòts of paths to run round and for those of us f cough riper years, seats to enjoy the sights and scents. Go go go go go.
