Just a short detour from Highway 6, the free Cape Foulwind walkway is a great way to view fur seals in a beautiful setting. The trail is well marked and a ten minute walk will take you very close to where seals are lying on the coast or swimming in the ocean. Well worth the short drive to this walkway!

A short drive south of Westport is Cape Foulwind. An easy walk from the road up the well maintained track takes you to several viewing platforms along the cliffs with great views along the rugged West coast and of the seal colony sunning on the rocks.A great little excursion, if your feeling fit you can try the 1 hour return... Great walk along the rough West Coast, from the light house to a seal colony. About one hour return.

In nice weather, this was a lovely, easy walk. You're out in the open along the cliffs so can see the view. The seal colony was fun as well! Worth it if you have an extra hour or two in Westport area.

We did this walk a few years ago when our children were younger. It was clearly marked and the track was well maintained. A fairly easy level walk.

Well maintained and good views. Quite an easy walk. It was an easy climb to the seal colony lookout with good firm footing. A must do if you're in Westport.

We parked at the carpark near the lighthouse and started walking. Walked past the lighthouse and just followed the well laid out path along the coast. It is stunningly beautiful and it was a gorgeous hot day. We walked as far as the quarry and turned back which took us about an hour. Its an undulating path, some uphill but... More

This is a very pretty coastline walk and its fun to see the seal colony at the and. Very rough nature, did remind us of Scotland! Its an easy walk.. I would say at about 1 hour. Do it while you are here.
