Visit the Te Anau Glowworm Caves - an underground network of limestone caves lit by hundreds of glowworms. In the darkness they produce a glittering display. Carved out by the force of the river, the underground world is surprisingly beautiful with whirlpools and roaring waterfalls. Begin with a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau and then our nature guides will take you in groups through the caves and then in a small boat into the grotto. Departs Te Anau.

It was a well organised trip, the boat journey across the lake was comfortable, the staff were friendly, polite and enthusiastic about the caves and the history behind them. It's a little on the expensive side, but, its a unique experience so you are paying...More

I really enjoyed visiting the glow worm cave. The large boat takes you across the fresh water lake, said to be one of the largest fresh water lakes in the Southern Hemisphere. Once there the well informed guides take you in small groups into the...More

I first visited the glow worm caves about 25 years ago. This time I took a friend who is more of an urbanite than nature lover - but even she was impressed with the magnificent cavern with its underground river system and of course the...More

We enjoyed our visit and learned quite a lot. We needed more time in the educational room after our glow worm tour. They need a Chinese language introduction film of instructions - the language barrier meant the Chinese speaking tourists did not obey the 'silence...More

The boat trip and the cave itself was an awesome experience and such beautiful scenery! However seeing the actual glow worms themselves was the least exciting part, however I enjoyed it for what it was and the people were amazing

This one is an iffy one. I loved the cruise over and Lake Te Anau was so scenic. When we got to the glow worm caves it was kind of dull. The actual tour lasts for like 20-30 minutes and 5 of them is actually...More

Aloha, I agree with the other answers. I can't explain why some people like something and the same amount of people don't like it similar to the elections recently in America.

There is no particularly charges for sitting near the guide. I went at 4pm and the tour is pretty good. I got a 6 yr old and he enjoy it. The tunnel is narrow and some section is pretty Low. People walk in a single line and... More
