Visit the Te Anau Glowworm Caves - an underground network of limestone caves lit by hundreds of glowworms. In the darkness they produce a glittering display. Carved out by the force of the river, the underground world is surprisingly beautiful with whirlpools and roaring waterfalls. Begin with a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau and then our nature guides will take you in groups through the caves and then in a small boat into the grotto. Departs Te Anau.

I went here at 7PM. Love the explenation and interesting tour. If you are in town, worth to see this tour and see at the glow worm which quiet unique knowledge. But we can not take any photos or video inside the cave.

Unique. Not over the top but a worthy adventure. Knowledgeable presentation by guide. Lake trip was pretty but not phenomenal compared to Milford sounds if you can only choose one.

Real journey tour of the glow worm caves was wonderful and very well executed by the team - Real Journeys. It’s mind blowing to be inside the caves and see the glowworms. must see experience.

The briefing was well carried out by our friendly and humorous host - Hannah. Highly recommended for kids. Just take note to reach at least 20min before the departure time. Not sure why we missed this info. We reached at 7pm and almost missed the...More

Nice boat ride to the Glowworm caves and lovely tour guides on the day. You will need to take a coat as it is quite cold inside the cave.

We toured the caves through Real Journeys. They do a great job!. It was definitely something unique to see. For those who get claustrophobic or have issues in the dark, the tour is not so long as to be super stressful. It is worth it.

This was a little disappointing. The glowworms are nothing special, the caves themselves are actually more interesting. Big production to get here as well.

To reach this place we took a drive for 2 hours and built-up a high expectation. But glow warm viewing by boat ride was O.K. They should allow photography in part of the caves where visitors take a walk and lit.

The glowworms are magical! At the end of the tour, we got into a boat deep in the cave, and in total darkness, floated a few feet into the grotto to see the glowworms. It was beautiful, but lasted for five (maybe ten?) or so...More

Not recommend if I was claustrophobic as there are low ceilings and dark periods with no exits to escape.

Check out realjourneys they run the trips to the caves. Roads and weather in Fiordland is variable, we got caught with a large snow fall a few years ago in the area in early June, but if you can handle the cold and have... More
