We started at the Divide near Milford Sound and 10 hours later, we were done at the Routeburn Shelter. We took advantage of TrackHopper, who relocated our car for us while we hiked. The track was absolutely beautiful. The different views on this hike make this the most scenic hike I've ever done. At times, I felt like I was... More

This walk has fantastic views and we were very lucky to see most of them. But the weather had a serious impact on this walk. It was cold wet and windy and we were soaked each of the three days. We were slow walkers, and arriving at each hut late meant very little choice of bunks. Day 2 is very... More

We enjoyed a 2-day trip starting from the shelter, spending the night at Lake McKenzie hut and then exiting at the Divide on the second day. This is a well-groomed track the whole way and is really beautiful even when the weather isn't the best. The trail starts in the forest following the stream (Route "Burn") and is really pretty... The Routeburn Track was our first ever foray into "tramping" and what a perfect introduction it was - we walked from the Te Anau end towards Queenstown, overnighting at the Lake Mackenzie and Routeburn Falls DOCs huts (we did the self guided rather than the glamping version). We traveled in early January 2017. The DOCs huts were better than I... More

We loved the Routeburn even more the second time we did it. We also used Easyhike's great car relocation service- excellent communication and service and well worth the cost.

Wow this track is amazing! We only had a day hike (started from Routeburn Shelter carpark hiked up about half an hour past the first Flat Hut then came back). We saw some truly beautiful mountains, rivers, flatlands, wetlands and lots of native birds singing all the way along our hike! We climbed up to the point where you can... More

Wow, what a most awesome track, whatever the weather. The scenery is spectacular, the vegetation lush and the weather wild. The track is quite strenuous and a certain degree of fitness is required, although we did see several very out of condition people tackling the hike. There were certainly stretches that were not for the feint hearted- wading through water... More

Pretty easy for a fit person. The routeburn is a well maintained track that is a reasonable walk. Due to the weather you need to be fully prepared. Stunning views and waterfalls.
