Great for a cruise of kayaking

We went kayaking with Go Orange and it was one of the most incredible experiences I've had during my time in New Zealand

Absolutely the best tour we've done in years. The Sound is beautiful, not as commercialized as Milford and with the crew of the Southern Secret, just a fabulous trip. We chose the overnight, 2-day excursion. Wasn't cheap by any standard but was worth the expense. From the time we got to our van, Jason (our captain) was welcoming, humorous and... More

We booked through Real Journeys and really enjoyed the overnight stay on the Navigator. Far less traveled than Milford and equally as beautiful.

Go Orange! We chose Go Orange because they operate smaller boats and we were hoping to experience Doubtful Sound without the crowds. We went on a Saturday and the boat was fairly full but was still about 40 people, way less than a lot of other operators take. We had plenty of space to sit inside when we ate, and... More

This really is one of the greats. We were lucky with the weather, but even so this would rate as an extraordinary experience and well worth the money (it is not cheap) for the overnight cruise and the early morning tranquility. Absolutely superb! Real Journeys do a great job too, with helpful, friendly staff; good, well organised transfers; a comfortable... More

What a treat! This boat was spacious and clean, the cabins were comfortable with en suite bathrooms, and the crew were excellent. Alan prepared a fabulous lunch of crayfish tails, salads, warm focaccia and fruit. The rain didn't stop us enjoying the sight of dolphins cavorting and seals preening themselves or put us off fishing for blue cod for dinner.... More

If there's just one thing you do in New Zealand it should be this wonderful overnight cruise in the beautiful Fiordland Navigator. Your trip starts by crossing Lake Manapouri then coach transfer over the Wilmot Pass to Deep Cove where you board the Fiordland Navigator. Safety comes first then an introduction to the crew & we're underway. We stayed in... More

The boat trip on Doubtful Sound is far preferable (and more expensive) than one on Milford Sound, which is a zoo with hordes of tourists, multiple sightseeing flights taking off, and many different tour boats. The Doubtful Sound trip involves first a boat ride over Lake Manapouri, then a bus ride over Wilmot Pass, then the boat trip over Doubtful... More

We joined the real journey day trip to doubtful sound. It is 12 hours plus day trip and should be the only possible way to visit doubtful sound. All overnight cruise are fully booked during our 1-week long stay in Queenstown. So if you can fix your itinerary, you better book in advance. Day trip seems to be easier and not... More
