We took a cruise around the sound and the views were amazing. The mountains surrounding were stunning, just everything about the place had a good feel to it along with amazing views.

So good and worth every penny! The most stunning views and probably the best experience for the south island.

I will rate drive from queens town to milford sound more than the cruise at sound. Clear sunny day was a bonus for us. A must visit.

I've been travelling in New Zealand for about 4 months and have seen all of the major attractions here - Milford Sound is a must see if you are on the South Island. I've also taken a Doubtful Sound cruise and they are both sensational....More

We went on a overnight cruise here in late December (which is summer in New Zealand). It was really foggy and rainy the day we went but on the second day of the cruise, we were really lucky that the fog lifted a little and...More

An amazing cruise up the sound. Captain was fun and entertaining. He practically had us moored under a waterfall! Wrap up and take waterproofs as it can get breezy and wet! Amazing scenery and well worth the drive there.

We took a 2 hour cruise on the sound or as the captain noted, actually it's a fiord. The scenery is beautiful and the 2 hour loop was just right for us. Highly recommended!

Heard so much about how Milford Sound was so beautiful but you can only see it by boat, not cheap either, and at the time we went we saw some seals but we only booked in the hope of seeing Dolphins but once you are...More

My friend and I spent two weeks in New Zealand, and this was by far one of the most memorable experiences. It is unlike any place we had ever been before and really did feel like being on a different planet. We did not know...More

There look to be about 6 companies but the all go the same places. What varies is some have meals included etc. bigger boats etc.

We would like to visit Milford Sound in one day. Is it possible to ride a coach from Queenstown, take the 2-hour boat trip around the sound, kayak for 1-2 hours and then fly back to Queenstown? If yes, any tour company recommendations? Thank you!

HI, The only one I know of is that you can get on a tour bus from Queenstown to Milford Sound, do the boat trip and then return on the bus. I think it is about an 10 hour day to do this so not sure if you would have time... More

If you are traveling in June I would recommend to travel by coach, as it could be snowing or very rainy. They also have rock slides sometimes and the coach drivers are really experienced with these conditions. Much safer to... More
