A great place to go and see native New Zealand birds, trees, flora and fauna. We had a fabulous time seeing birds we'd never seen before including the saddleback.

It's really an amazing place to go. So many different birds singing, while ferns and other plants growing lush and wild. And watching a wild Kiwi crossing the trail is such a once a lifetime experience, hard to describe, maybe thrilling could be the word....More

The island is well tracked for most visitors with defined shingle paths. Birds seen included Weka, Kaka, Saddle Back, Robin, Kiwi, Kuru, to name some and of coarse hosts of sea birds. Patience is always the key to sighting these unique species. Our DOC staff...More

You would think you had emerged in the Jurassic Era--beautiful, primitive, tons of birds, but nicely maintained trails! The views from the beaches cannot be captured in pictures--I hated to leave! Arrange a water taxi through your hotel.

Quick trip by water taxi will drop you on the island, stay 2-3 hours and spend time spotting all the birds and kiwis, take your lunch and water.

Great wildlife, beautiful forests, plus your ferry ticket is written and a a leaf- bloody brilliant- nice beaches too

Absolutely a must see. I recommend you book a bus tour ASAP as they book out-without that you won't know or see much

Costs $20-25 round trip--there's a boat with set times ($20), or for $25 you can set your times.
