The staff at Dart Stables were warm and friendly. My friends went for the Ride of the Rings tour on horseback while I joined them for the 4x4 tour of the Lord of the Rings countryside. The locations we visited were beautiful and my friends had only good things to say about their horseback tour. All in all, this is... More

First off the scenery was amazing and our guide was very pleasant. That is about all the good we can say. My wife and I live on 500 acres with 7 horses. We typically ride together several times a week after work. Needless to say we are both very experienced riders who have ridden our entire lives. The horses looked... More

Went for a very cold and raining ride but the staff and animals were wonderful. Would maybe not suggest heading out in the rain but I for sure don't regret my experience. Loved it!

Had a lovely 2 hour ride with Dart Stables. Horse was lovely (Eden) and kind of listened to me. The commentary is hard to hear as it was a large group and even though the guide was shouting most of the time it was hard to hear. I didn't mind that much as I was just enjoying being on a... More

Being a great Lord of the Rings fan, I did the Ride of the Rings tour and I loved it! It was a very clear day (also quite cold in the early morning) so we got stunning views on our 4DW tour; our guide was very nice and told us a few things about the Lord of the Rings and... More

This was an unforgettable experience; a beautiful ride in stunning scenery. I am an experienced rider but our group included beginner children and the Dart Stables team carefully allocated suitable horses for every level of rider and made the ride fun for everyone. I had plenty of opportunity to canter while the beginners were guided through trotting. I would recommend... More

The stables are in Glenorchy and set in one of the most beautiful backdrops I've ever seen. The stables tend to beautiful, happy and well cared for horses and they rotate through so the horses are able to rest. Having only ridden a handful of times we chose the Intermediate ride, The River Wild. We had a small group of... More

We signed up for a two-hour trek - The River Wild - with one adult and three children. One of the children had never ridden before. We were told to show at 2:15 for check-in; and we were stuck behind a big tour group of non-English speakers. I was getting quite impatient and grumpy; because we could have spent another... More

These tours were really fun and a great way to take in the beautiful scenery. As an inexperienced horse rider I was a little bit frightened in parts where the group went at a trotting pace (couldn't wait for these bits to end). It was disconcerting but I wouldn't let that put you off because the scenery you will take... More

Sightseeing and activities in New Zealand are generally on the expensive side, particularly for travellers, and raking up a big bill on your adventures can easily happen if you are not careful. That being said, if one is going to splurge just once on one absolutely incredible activity, I would strongly recommend it being this one. Through our hostel, we... More
