Extra special on a beautiful day

You can dine outside or inside depending on the weather but the view is beauttiful anyway. The food is lovely and down to earth.

I'd heard of this but was quite taken and surprised by its beauty and it's size! It's not to be missed, the gardens are so beautiful to walk around and to view from the telescope in the main building. A beautiful Island, wharfs, platforms, bird aviaries, whoever did this knew what they were doing, it's a real beauty.... feed the... More

Lovely spot. Unpretentious cafe, superb for lunch. The food is fresh and plentiful. People seem to be encouraged to take their time and eat at leisure. All a bit quirky and charming. Plus of course the gardens.

The garden is truly lovely and you can enjoy short walks around it. Great repurposing. The food was plentiful, a massive bowl of soup with homemade bread, very delicious. Thank you for a great break.

It is like a secret garden, unexpected until you stumble upon it (by accident in our case). We felt like a coffee before we arrived in Invercargil along the scenic route. The cafe was closed, however the owner welcomed us in and prepared two enjoyable cups. We had noticed a sign about a WOW view.. and then we saw the... More

Were served an amazing lunch when we came with the Goldwing club. We were presented with soo much food for such a reasonable price. We chatted a lot and sat and looked at the lovely garden, didn't actually walk in it, we were a bit hampered by our bike gear. Well worth the visit.

Wanted to check this place out with grandkids. Weather very inclement but a warm welcome. Extra little touches for kids which were appreciated over lunch. Very reasonable prices. Kid friendly inside cafe. Lovely walks around the ponds,a change from highly manicured places so you could relax as kids hooned around. A great family spot to visit. A little oasis in... More

When we located it. (you could benefit from some more signage further out from attraction to lure travellers in ) Found the couple running it delightful. The food was good and respectably inexpensive. I note too it has a dump station and parking so caters for a wide range with a little diversion off main road (a few hundred meters)... More

I live not far from this cafe/garden and had driven past it nearly every weekend for an entire whitebait season, going from our home to the river, for a couple of years before finally stopping in to check out the place. What a revelation! The owners are a lovely couple: very friendly and justifiably proud of what they have created.... More
