Perhaps I was expecting too much, having been to Shantytown in Greymouth, but Demolition world was really quite creepy. Perhaps if they removed the weird mannequins with semi-detached heads it might be slightly better? It was just kind of sad to wander around an amazing collection of historical items and see them covered in spiderwebs, dust and well...it was just... More

Wow, what a suprise to find such an eclectic collection of manequins, historical refuse and memorabilia and a huge nautical themed childrens playground. The spooky vibe would be best utilised for a Halloween party or maybe a haunted house type venue. Maybe a walking dead themed event would attract new local interest. I will return when my children are a... More

This was totally not what I was expecting and we easily spent a couple of hours there for the cost of a donation. There were animals, a brand new playground and all sorts of weird and wonderful recycled attractions to look at.

What an amazing place! For just a gold coin donation you get to see a whole town put together by a very talented lady. Chooks run around your feet as you intrude into each little house or shop. It's as if you were in a time machine gone into the past where all the mannequin characters are frozen in time,... More

It's not a museum, it's not just a building recycling business,it'a a gloriously anarchic collection of curious and quirky rescued items, loosely grouped into unrestored tableaux in a quiet corner of South Invercargill. Long grass, undergrowth and a large collection of poultry make this a fossickers' delight. There's a unique and inventive play area for children, with sheds, boats, nooks and... More

Biked from our camping ground out to Demo World to find a sign on the gate - Open again 23 January. It was the 22nd, so we missed out. Looks promising from the reviews, and even biking down the road, there were a few properties with interesting fences / front yards, so it just whet the appetite! Will be back... More

Just visited this place. The lady was very welcoming and friendly and the entire place, fascinating! It's a great place to explore and take photos and the chickens running around just adds to the fun. I highly recommend this place.

Interesting quirky place to visit. Lots of mannequins- some look a little macabre. Friendly owner and donation box on way out - please give generously as I don't know how they make money. Small shop plus lots of house parts, doors, windows for sale. Awesome playground and activities for children, paradise for the many fowl that live there, just watch... More
