A quick stop but worth it

What a surprise. Knew nothing about this Basilica but when we saw the wonderful exterior we went inside and were pleased that we did.

Nice to see the beauty of the exterior of the Basilica. Tucked away on a minor road. Interior rather plain for a Catholic church.

Only saw this from the outside but the building is magnificent. This is a very imposing structure. Well worth a visit.

A landscape icon of Invercargill this Basilica is our touch of Rome. Sedately approachable with wide steps for access, your soul will be refreshed once inside with the quiet graciousness, the elegance of the architecture and the stained-glass windows and panels. A wonderful organ provides music for the choir. Do take the time to visit, it will be worthwhile.

This stood out as a beautiful building in a fairly drab part of Invercargill. It has obviously been lovingly cared for by its congregation. The fine architecture has been enhanced by the work that has been done.

As a great grandson of the builder, Mr Michael Joseph Frain, it was indeed a gratifying accomplishment to view the works of this ancestor.

A totally refurbished church, it shows how much effort its congregation has put into restoring it. Even a lovely quilt can be found on display.

My husband had been baptised in Invercargill at St. Mary's many years ago so it really was a trip down memory lane. Lovey to see the Basilica so well maintained.
