This is E. Hayes ans sons Hardware store also known as Hammer Hardware. It is where the famous Indian motorbike is kept. The display of old bikes and things from the past is well and truly worth seeing. The movie " The Fastest Indian" starred Anthony Hopkins.

We were expecting to see just the one bike Burt Monroe customised and raced at Bonneville and were pleasantly surprised to find this was just the tip of the iceberg. Great experience to see such a diverse collection up close in the middle of a hardware store.

This is a free display which is in the family hardware shop (big shop) and the exhibits are spread out around amongst the stock. Wander at your leisure.

Very unique collection of history. Everything from parts of the bikes to the car in the film. And the actual bike behind glass is something to see. And its free. Although I did buy something because I appreciated to collection so much. A must see for fans of motorcycles.

At least 2 hours to have a good look but much more time could be spent for the enthusiast. Well laid out and plenty of room. Ladies have small area for their interest.

We had the pleasure of watching The Worlds Fastest Indian, loved it and just had to visit this fabulous hardware store with all its collection of history. Just had to buy the book about Bert and his records set. Thoroughly recommend you call in. The staff were so felpful and obviously proud of the collection they have on display.

Many displays in a functioning department type store. Cars , many bikes, old machinery and photo displays. And of course a complete Bert Munro coverage.

What a surprise walking into the hardware store. The old bikes and cars are simply beautiful. All well kept, information sheets on each and no problems with taking photos. Entry is free but please put a donation into the boss around the store to support the upkeep of the displays. Fastest Indian bike is the draw card.
