Is the center of Dunedin and besides a few restaurants and the tourist information office there is nothing more than a central small park.

It was designed as the centre piece of the town, an eight sided park but now it is a cluttered bus terminal with many of the eight sides filled with tacky cafes and bars. Not a place of much interest or charm.

This is a lovely area right in the middle of town , very busy when we were there.
A lot to see and well worth the time to have a good look around.
The statue of Robert Burns dominates the centre area , very nice it is .
Some nice building in the area as well as eating and drinking places.
A clever design all up .

The Octagon is a small central park with an octagonal street pattern around it. When we were there no vehicular traffic was allowed, and the streets were thronged with pedestrians. The area is fully of grand stone buildings and monuments from the colonial period, as well as many cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed an hour our so strolling around. The Presbyterian cathedral was a highlight.

The Octagon is located in the city centre of Dunedin. It got its name from being an eight-sided plaza with a circular one-way carriageway

Its the central terminus for buses, taxis and you will find several bars and restaurants. It is a more lively part of Dunedin.

Here you will find statue of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.

We arrived Christmas Day and there was a Christmas Tree set up. On New Years Eve it is the site for celebrations.

In the South Island of New Zealand. It is an eight-sided plaza with a circular one-way carriageway, bisected by the city's main street, and is also the central terminus of two other main thoroughfares. The Octagon is predominantly a

Just stopped off here whilst on a cruise. Enjoyed walking around the city very much, and enjoyed walking around the octagon. It’s a great place to send to yourself, easy to find your way around. Great bus station in the middle of the octagon. Beautiful church, and a modern Art Gallery which was fabulous and nice cafes etc

This is just a park with a handful of shops and restauarants nearby. The restaurants are reasonable but there is nothing special here.

The octagon is a very teal marker for anyone in Dunedin. Plenty of shopping, bars and cafes spin off this marker so I’m sure at some point you’ll come across this area in town.
