One of the many interesting things to see at the Christchurch Botanic Garden is the Peacock Fountain, an ornate Edwardian style fountain purchased with the bequeathed sums of pioneer and honourable John Peacock in 1911. After nearly a half a century being left in storage...More

If you go to the park in Christchurch don't miss the Peacock fountain. It is a feast for the eyes with its scroll work and beautifully wrought decorations. You will find it near the museum which is also worth a visit!

The botanical gardens are free and this fountain is an icon of the park. Be sure to stop by--Peacock is the name of the man it honors (not the bird)

Amazing history and provenance for this remarkable and still controversial example of early twentieth century civic profligacy!

It's garish, over the top and completely Victorian, and I love it, so glad they restored and put it pride of place in the Gardens again

Walking around after a run around the park and stood for a while watching the waterfall. It is in the entrance to the Botanical Gardens. Worth a 5 minute look

Iconic, nothing to say about a fountain but makes cute pictures! Part of a greater visit either to the Canterbury Museum (highly recommend) or the Botanic Gardens (on a nice day also recommended) because it's not worth a trip to see it if you aren't...More

Gorgeous fountain next to the museum in the botanic gardens. Well worth a stop to have a quick look at while you’re there.

Situated in Hagley Park, very near the Museum. As good as many other fountains, but nothing special. Nice if you pass it, but you won't have missed much if you don't.
