I go here all the time as it's a great swimming spot - gets pretty crowded in summer though. New food truck in car park too for ice creams and drinks etc. But please take your rubbish away with you!

Corsair Bay is a wee gem, especially in week days, when only a few locals are there. Lovely beach surrounded by beautiful trees and scenery. It was my haven when I lived over that way. In the weekend it can be crowded but it is also fun and the water is safe and warm. Good play area for kids and... More

No. 1 beach in Christchurch area if you want to swim, as you can swim out to a pontoon in the small bay, or further out if you are keen. Warmer than the open ocean. Check high tide times by Googling Lyttelton high tide (best on or near high tide). Fantastic short walk (20 min each way) around the coast... More

Just a wee jewel of a bay for a swim. Water doesn't get too deep too quickly, it's warm, and even though it's popular, it doesn't get too crowded. Bit of a downhill hike to get down to it, but the path is good. Seating is available. No shelter. Shelly beach. A few rocks in the water. A great floating... More

This quiet, quite hidden bay is very steep to get to but is popular with locals as it is not a tourist spot, and once a year hosts a great pirate rumbustifiction. Great fun - natural magic.

Had a few hours here. Not very busy apart from a school group doing their thing in th shallow waters. Good sandy beach for young ones with shells and crabs. Good grassy area yo chill out on. No attractions or even an ice cream van when we went so take a picnic...

We used to hangout on the beach until night, swimming, waterline (slackline), painting, yoga etc.... The food truck there made on of the best fries squid of Christchurch, better than most of the local Fish&chips.
