We drove over to Lyttleton and loved the views along the waterfront heading to Governors Bay. Well worth a trip on a sunny day.

Lovely little port suburb, worth a visit, still quite broken from the quake. There is a great market on Saturday mornings, perfect for fresh veg, cheese, breads, meat, sweet treats, flowers, vintage stalls, crafts etc and often with live music. Also the gateway to Quail Island

For me personally, the best thing about Lyttelton is the view it gives when up on the port hills looking down onto it. And it's probably best to have kept it that way. I've been in and out a few different times now and it still fails to impress. I'm aware it got hit badly in the quakes and also... More

Last morning so I took a trip out; didn't have time to take the ferry but wandered for a bit and found a great cafe for lunch and a chill; enjoyed the bus ride out and glad i made the effort

Stopped by Lyttelton to find a good place to hike. Walked through downtown and found a very nice trail down around the water. Beautiful!!!

We caught the metro bus to Lyttelton and then the ferry to Diamond Harbour. Walked around the town and watched all the activity at the port. Had beautiful weather which certainly helped.

Went to Lyttelton for a relaxing lunch, have also taken the boat from here across to Diamond Harbour on another occasion, pleasant trip. Lyttelton is slowly getting back to normal after the earthquake still work to be completed, nice variety of cafes and a small market on a Saturday morning. You can get there through the tunnel from Heathcote or... More

We travelled to Lyttelton for a day out, but ending up coming back one hour into it! Nothing much to do around there other than a boat trip. Nice to see where our container will be going when we move back to the UK though! My advice would be plan before you go, so you have something setting stone to... More

Just out of ChCh this is the main port. I feel it may have been better when Captain Cook & his band of brigands tipped up. It's not an inspiring place, somewhat ugly & partially functional
