I had a wedding here. Though I planned to visit again 10 years after marriage...I hope that it will be rebuilt in the same beautiful building as before!

Once the pride & joy of Cantabrians & the only remaining "Provincial" Council Buildings in NZ, we remain hopeful that restoration will eventually begin on these fabulous buildings.

Next to the Art Gallery, the buildings seem to have survived the earthquake and do not show the damage of those nearby....could be just the first buildings to be rebuilt.

Sadly, some of those once beautiful buildings lie in ruins, still waiting for rebuilding and repairs. Still, they can still be appreciated for what they once were, hoping they'd soon be restored to their original beauty.

All the reviews prior to 22 February 2011 are correct, it was a real gem but was reduced to a ruin by the earthquakes that day and since then. I hope it can be reconstructed.
