All outdoors, so best avoid a rainy or windy day. Some animals are quite a way away and can be difficult to see. Make sure to be at the giraffes for feeding time. Was our highlight. Take your own lunch if you want to avoid the huge lines at the cafe. Fun flying fox for the children too.

The only thing we enjoyed here were the gorillas in their new enclosure. Some pens were empty, some overgrown and neglected. Most things seemed in need of attention. The most disappointing wildlife park we have been to.

The animals all looked very well looked after and happy in there open plan enclosures. You get to interact with a lot of the animals as they come right up to the fences to see you. Fantastic half day spent here and very well priced for entry.

This zoo is clearly a closely guarded secret! Very quiet on a Friday afternoon - saw about 30 other people. Truly knowledgable staff and fantastic enclosures. Got up very close indeed to lions, cheetahs, gorillas and more. Hand fed a giraffe! Kiwi house was truly excellent as we spent 30 minutes about 2 metres from two of them. As it... More

What a wonderful zoo to go to right on the doorstep of Christchurch City ... animals of all sorts are here and most not caged in (but secure from the public) like many other zoos world wide ... a great day out for all the family with easy access to one and all ... will be coming back again soon

We have visited on a number of occasions and love the fact that we can visit for shorter or longer periods. We always take a picnic, utilise the electric cart, stop off where we want to, have also walked the whole park on a number of occasions, bought coffee and ice blocks at the great cafe.If our grandchildren are a little... I love this place, from the otters, porcupine, meerkats to the giraffe feeding, the rhino (oh lordy love how close you get to these beasts!), the big cats, primates, oh just love it. You can ride the bus that takes you round and regularly stops with volunteers helping out. Go early and take a picnic and spend the whole day.... More

Being a bit older than the normal, it was fantastic to go around the park in a shuttle, with great informative commentary. It was all so neat and clean, with well looked after animals. Would recommend to all. We enjoyed it so much and would sure go back some time.

Highly recommend the lion encounter and the lemur feeding. They are a additional charge but well worth it. The team at Orana park are professional, friendly and knowledgable. We had a light lunch in the cafe, tasty food! Reasonable prices. New exhibits coming up, will have to have another visit soon. Thank you so much Orana Park team, we had... More

This zoo is mostly flat and very accessible. There is also a shuttle that drives around providing commentary and the opportunity to quickly jump to a particular exhibit. Good range of animals and the zoo participates well in international breeding programmes and conservation work. The highlight of the trip was the close encounter with the zoo keepers feeding the lions.... More
