This beautiful homestead suffered quite a lot of damage during the 2010 and 2011 Canterbury earthquakes, but after a very thorough and sympathetic restoration the homestead now reveals more of it's history than ever before with panels allowing a view of it;s construction methods and...More

Riccarton bush is a pleasant place to have a walk. It is an escape from busy city life. Free admission is a bonus! You have to pay for the House though and check the time before you go.

Beautifully restored Dean's family homestead. Lots of big English trees planted in the 1800's. But the gem we found was the pest fenced Riccarton Bush. You wouldn't know you were in Christchurch. What a gem. Original NZ bush. Starts with concrete paths through NZ native...More

Thank you for your great feedback. We have had so much rain that seating in the bush is looking a bit bedraggled - more good weather will fix it.

Throughly enjoyed my visit here. Our guide was amazing, he certainly knew his stuff and was open to having input from our small group. Didn’t rush us, ensured we had plenty of time in each room. Would certainly recommend this to others.

Nice walk around the grounds with the gated bush a peaceful area to relax. Ducks were not hungry today but have been in br past and they are nice to feed and watch on the stream that passes through.
