It's the ultimate Antarctic adventure! Experience the dramatic seasonal lighting in the four seasons of Antarctica show where it 'snows' every 6 minutes. Venture out on to 'the ice' from Scott Base to play in 'Antarctica' the snow & ice experience and survive an Antarctic storm! How long can you hold your hand in the icy Antarctic water? Hang out with Little Blue Penguins, buckle up for the famously exciting Hagglund ride, take an awesome simulated 4D Antarctic cruise, watch Happy Feet 4D, then watch a stunning movie on a MASSIVE screen! It's the closest you'll get to Antarctica without mounting your own expedition!

For us, it was good for our 10 yr old daughter to explore some new things here. The storm was very cold and strong. Although they gave you the jacket to get inside the storm room, it wasn't warm enough. You enjoyed it for first few seconds. After that it was too cold. 4D movies were ok but we had... More

This museum is well worth a visit as there is plenty to see and learn about. The Antartic Storm is a an interesting and fun experience and there are lots of other interesting experiences and items to look at and explore. A good activity for children and interesting for adults.

We spent the better part of an afternoon at the International Antarctic Centre and it was time well spent. Learned about the terrain and the people who have explored it. They also have a small little blue penguin sanctuary where we learned about them and got to watch a feeding. Loved it all!

Don't miss the Penguin feeding. Do go into the Antarctic ice box experience and feel sub zero temps in the snow. There are movies to watch and plenty of Antarctic history, a ride in a ( oops, forgotten its name) all terrain vehicle. This activity could take a whole day if you want, and would be great on a bad... More

The International Antarctic Centre is a fabulous place to visit for families and for everyone. If you have time to kill waiting for a flight, it is close to the airport so instead of sitting around the airport watching and waiting you can be entertained for a with penguins and antarctic displays. There is a free shuttle from the city... More

A good experience for kids and families. The Antarctic simulation room lets you experience the wind and biting cold. The hagglund ride is fun and way too short. The 4D theater is not quite worth it but you will enjoy the HD theater. They have penguin feeding times so make sure you check on the timings before you go.

My husband and I spent just over three hours at The Antarctic centre but could have spent more. It was fun and also very informative. The 'storm' was an interesting experience and we both really enjoyed the Hagglaund ride. The feeding of the penguins was good to see and we were there on a day that you could pet rescued... More

We didn't expect to pay such a large amount. The children were actually quite scared of all the noises and dark lighting. Probably very good for older children at primary but not toddlers. We left after 15 mins. The penguin area was a little underwhelming too.

We thought a little expensive ($59 each) but when you take into account the free return shuttle from Christchurch it makes it all worthwhile. We planned our visit a few hours before our flight out of Christchurch so had plenty of time. plan on about 2 hours. It was an interesting place and the staff are great. The penguins are... More
