Your visit to Mt Cook would not be complete without driving up the Tasman valley to the sealed carpark and climbing the very well prepared steps (estimate around 300) to the viewing point. The view of Tasman lake and the surrounding mountains is awesome. The...More

It's a long drive off the main road to visit Mt Cook so take the time for a walk to get a view of the Tasman Glacier. It's a further drive up the Tasman Valley. But the road is good and has some interesting bridges....More

I came here with a boat tour. The weather was so nice and clear. I could see Mt Cook very clearly. The problem was the glacier. It was covered by dirt so it was basically black and gray. Not blue and emerald.

A short drive from Mt Cook and plenty of parking available. The walk to the glacier is short but not too difficult as the DOC has done a great job in installing the steps. Incredible views all around!

If you're short on time, be sure to go up to the view point here as it'll only take you 20 minutes up and you get a really nice view of the glacier lake in all it's blue glory!

It is a 3 hr 15 min drive from Queenstown. You have to watch up for a small sign on the right just before you reach a T-junction (one of which road goes to the Hermitage Hotel). The sign says Glacier walk/ lake. From the...More

I saw there’s another path to walk up to the mountain to view the glacier and the blue lake instead as I don’t see they have another type of boat.
