If you are in Thorndon anyway ( as we were for a farmers market in St Paul's carpark) it's worth popping in. It opens at the reasonable hour of 9am mon to sat. The staff are very friendly and helpful, its free and the exhibition...More

This is not like the national library in DC, decked out in art and with books in view of the public. Most of the library is closed to the public and used for research which, fair enough, but not what I was expecting. The ground...More

As a visitor to Wellington I would totally recommend visiting the National Library. The recently opened exhibition gives a new perspective on the Treaty of Waitangi and amazing to see the way our founding document is now on display for all to see. The woman's...More

It's so big. It has limited books. Thought there would be more but there was still lots to have a look at. You can't get books out of this Library but the staff were lovely and helpful when I went to have a look.

Lovely place, utterly huge and curiously devoid of books. The guys on security are the best. If you need any help head to the lower ground level and they can help to you out!

After our visit to the Parliament buildings (please refer to my review about the Parliament here posted earlier), we dropped by here for a short visit as it was near it's closing time (almost 4.30pm) at 5pm. The National Library is just a short walk...More

Even though we've lived in Wellington for near on 9 years, this was the first time we visited this museum (in fact we didn't even know it was there). The digital age stuff was great with the touch screens and the 3D printer, but the...More
