Wellington’s waterfront is an easy walking location. The paths are wide but you are likely to be sharing the area with other walkers, runners and cyclists. Most people are courteous.
There are plenty of things to see including old and new buildings, statues and memorial plaques, and public art (some better than others). A good range of restaurants, cafes and bars can be found close by too.
It can be busy on weekends and at the start and end of the working day.

We spent hours just walking along the water front just taking in all the scenery and tranquility, definitely our fave part of the windy city.

The waterfront afford nice views across the harbor to mountains and houses crawling up them, as well as a marins on one side and big piers (navy?) on the other. there are several monuments or other places f interest as you walk the length, from Te Papa ending in a bigger center (convention?)

The earliest known name for Wellington, derived from Māori legend, is Te Upoko o te Ika a Maui or the head of Maui’s fish. Another Māori name translates to the Harbor of Tara. European settlers arrived in 1840 and the port became an important area for transporting goods and people to and from the harbor. On the waterfront, you can skate, bike, use the pedal boats, or kayak. There are a variety of places to eat and drink. Another option is to explore by using one of the heritage trails and/or visit the museum.

We really enjoyed our time on the waterfront, plenty of places to eat and drink.
There is plenty of other things to see , plenty of boats to admire , nice statues and some very old cranes on display plus a old working boat , we wonder if they are going to be restored for tourism purpose.
Spend time there and enjoy it.

the city nature is nice, but the people are nasty, ugly, depressed, and defensive and very hostile to foreigners -- like nationalist from 1933 germany. they have in-fighting over island between Europeans and local island people. go see nature but do not think they normal people... nooo!

It was a lovely stroll along the water front. It was nice and peaceful and we found the electric ferry to Days Bay which made it even better.

I feel there was a spiritual connection between me and the waterfront. It was the first time I did my photography assignment. Thus, it made me feel calm, serene and tranquil at the same time. It might be divine guidance calling out to me.

A great way to get from our hotel, near the Railway Station and the centre of town. Unlike in Sydney and Brisbane, there was plenty of space for pedestrians to share with cyclists and E-scooterers.
Also lots of great looking restaurants to choose from along the way.
