Waikareao Estuary walking/cycle track is a wonderful place away from the busy roads. Enjoy a nice stroll, a run or a cycle on the track around the Estuary. enjoy the walk over the waters edge on the board walk, or the birds in the trees and on the water. walkers and cyclists "share with care".

If you like walking or riding your bike, this is a lovely walk, will take you about 1 1/2 at a good pace. Plenty of room for both walkers and bike riders. Nice views as you go around.

This track / boardwalk is about 10km long. It is a wide pathway down the one side and goes onto a fairly wide boardwalk at the one end. The path down the road side is narrower but one still sees both pedestrians and cyclists going along it in both directions. It is a very flat walk and picturesque as you... More

An excellent walking track with a frequently changing vista & track surface. You move through light bush areas, seaside areas & boardwalks over the marshy estuary. You need to watch for cyclists as they tend to "own" the track.

This walkway is great for walking or cycling. It's easily accessible and being flat Is easy and enjoyable for all levels of fitness. It covers a bush area , urban walkways, Boardwalk, harbour views, passes alongside a shopping centre with cafes, easy parking - we love it. Try it

I run/walk this estuary all the time. I've walked the full 9k with my 9yo and it was a bit much for her. As a family we cycle the boardwalk side often and the kids love it. It would be a great circuit for anyone training for a 10km

Last round the Estuary April 2014, went around again with a visitor. 2.5 hrs of conversation made the walk seem shorter. Very clean, polite users who are cyclists with walkers. The council even supplies a plastic bag dispenser for dog walkers to pick-up and dispense of dog pooh, well done. We past a number of doggy owners holding plastic bags.... More

Being very close to my home I frequently cycle around the estuary for exercise. A Cycle circuit takes about 40 minutes and a walk right around takes about 2 hours. This is a popular place and is well maintained with sealed surfaces and boardwalks over the estuary waterways. On one segment it passes the popular Chapel Street shopping precinct where... More
