The gardens looked like they would have beautiful and there appeared to be some nice walks but they close at sunset so all we were able to do was drive through it.

Nice place to go even in autumn. Most of the flowers are gone but still a enjoyable walk in the natural setting. Each walking trail has a different theme and is unique.

Beautiful mixture of natural and landscaped gardens overlooking Lake Taupo. Very fortunate that dedicated people have created and maintain this wonderful garden. Lovely walks and picnics.

A beautiful place to walk and look at different flora and fauna. We took a photo of map board to aid our walk and ability to see all the different gardens. We spent about 2 hours walking around and sat with a picnic looking out across Lake Taupo from a lookout. Definitely worth a visit.

Have visited Taupo many times and did not know about these gardens until they were mentioned in a conversation with a stranger at the Taupo Saturday market. Highly recommend you take the loop road through the gardens, stopping off at various points of interest. Would be a great place to have a picnic. Be careful of the height of a... More

Regret only had a short time to explore this beautiful themed botanical garden. Would have loved to stay longer. Highly recommended.

Waipahihi Botanical Garden is free for anyone to visit. I'm sure it's very lovely in the right season when everything is blooming. Out of season it's probably only worth visiting for garden lovers as its quite boring otherwise.

The park is still a bit of wilderness, beautiful trees and ferns. Unfortunately, we visited just after the azaleas has passed bloom. It is surely a beauty when camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons are in full bloom. Even so, we enjoyed the coolness of the walks on a sunny day and the beautiful lookout over the lake .

Perhaps January isn't the ideal time to see shrubs in flower, but we spent two wonderful hours in beautiful shady sunshine here, listening to birdsong, watching finches and even seeing a male Tui in full display mode - and we didn't see another human being the whole time. Wonderful!
