This guy has the best spot. It's all so natural and he has a plethora of farm animals that just walk free around the place. This was the toughest hike so far but it was well worth it!!!!!!!! Neat place!!!!! and the guy was so nice. I had a cut and he fixed me up with salve and bandaids!!!! Great... More

We have just become locals and stumbled upon this place after making a wrong turn. I'm glad we did as this was a great place that embraced the best of the NZ feel... Just a no frills real deal relaxing sample of NZ. The cafe oozes character, as does the host. He was very friendly and treated us as if... More

What an entrance to the car park. Alpacas, hens, chickens, peacock ...... lamb. A beautiful start to a rewarding experience. The man at the counter was so friendly and helpful. He noticed that I was having some difficulty walking so offered some cross country walking poles which helped on the steps. He also gave us an optical thermometer and map.... More

This site is much more interesting than the guidebooks and brochures describe. There's an extensive boardwalk path weaving throughout the site that takes you within feet, and sometimes inches, of geysers, boiling ponds and bubbling mud pools. We spent a full hour there and were rushed to see everything. If you intend to stop and take photos or video, I... More

Little bit hidden but a nice 30 minutes walk through the valley. Starts with nice story telling from the guy in the cafe, but is part of the experience. For 10 dollars you will have a nice walk.

Beautiful relaxing time at these springs. Natural beauty of the water and stones making a delightful relaxing place to go. A big plus is this is adults only. It is quiet and serene no big numbers of people you can just enjoy the warm waters. There are three main pools of different temperatures you choose where you wish to enjoy.... More

Many walkways to explore in this area, without the major expense of other thermal areas around Rotorua. They don't differ much, apart from claims around the height of particular geysers, which actually is irrelevant given the many artificial devices used to activate some of them! The Wairakei Geo-Thermal Power plant may not be beautiful, given its huge multiple pipes and... More

The thermal pools did not disappoint. Visited late morning mid week and had the place all to ourselves! Don't forget to take water with you. The pools vary in heat, something for everyone. Quiet, clean and so relaxing. The effects continue. If you can keep the silica minerals on your skin for a few hours you really do feel fantastic.

Visited here with friends after the Ironman - I was sore from watching it !! The selection of pools was excellent as was the differing temperatures. The top pool was the hottest and I loved this one. Plenty of real athletes soaking away the pains from the previous day !! A great spot to visit just out of Taupo.
