Renowned for its rhododendron collection, Pukeiti is a 360 ha rainforest property located between Mount Taranaki and the coast, just south of New Plymouth. Established in 1951, Pukeiti is an internationally recognised garden and plant collection. Owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region. Not many flowers were out, but there was an amazing bush walk called the Giants. Smooth paths, with lots of little diversions. The cafe was very pleasant with friendly staff

Beautifully kept gardens with lots of interesting walkways. The Rhododendron's were not flowering when we went visited but there was still lots to appreciate. They were doing construction work around the cafe so it was not open...but had lovely picnic areas. Definitely a hidden gem...More

Would love to come back when it's Rhodo season as it would look amazing. Some pathways quite slippery when wet so spring and summer would be better months to visit.

There are walks available for all fitness levels I think, we've visited with my elderly in laws many times & the managed very well without missing out on the great views. The kids enjoyed running around discovering new paths... More
