Well worth the entry fee ($15) just to enjoy the building's stunning interior. We found the exhibitions a bit underwhelming - it's not a big gallery.

We recently held an event in one of the main Galleries which was outstanding. The building itself is a piece of art. We didn't get to see all the displays but what we saw were great! Certainly worth a look. The staff were all very...More

Only 1 room open - movie closed for the day as well. Huge disappointment as 1 of the reasons we traveled to New Plymouth. This should have been advised on their website - if they have one !

The Len Lye exhibition is amazing. The way he takes simple shapes and transforms them with movement and lighting has you wanting to just sit and look at his designs for a long time. This is definitely worth seeing.

The building is stunning from the outside, its certainly a show stopper, with wonderful reflections of surrounding buildings. Inside it's a beautiful cavernous gallery hosting kinetic sculptures by Len Lye and those inspired by him. When the kinetic sculptures are turned on they amaze. You...More

For just a small fee of $15 you can spend hours wandering around the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, gazing at the wonderment of Len Lye's amazing sculptures - run up and down the musical hallway like a small child, even though people think you're slightly odd!...More

we were amazed at the quality of the presentations and the unique style of "art" that Len Lye exposed us to. I felt that the staff were very informative and helpful in regards to our questions and desire to know more about this pioneer maqn.

The highlight of the art gallery for me was the building architecture. With its stunning exterior and tall concrete interior, you can feel quite small... The Len Lye exhibits were interesting and the staff were everywhere to help and answer questions. I’m not one for...More

We'd been here before they expanded in 2013/15 and were keen to see the new building and how they'd used the additional space. We were not disappointed and spent over 3 hours here - 1 of them watching an excellent documentary on Len Lye and...More
