A great way to spend a few hours and it’s free. You have to pay for parking but the exhibitions inside are truly breathtaking. We really enjoyed our visit and can’t wait to see future events that will be here.

Unfortunately we arrived late in the afternoon, but the time we spent here was very interesting. We were lucky enough to see the National Geographic 50 best photos exhibition which was fantastic.

Went to this display, amazing photography plus a video showing what lengths it took to capture the moment and also how they accomplished it. Truly amazing. If you are interested in photography at all then it is a must. Also, there is a lovely gift...More

There was loads to see and learn about. Lots of interactive exhibits to keep the kids entertained and all of it was free to see and do. This was an awesome place and we could have easily gone back if we had more time.

This place is amazing- for the young and old. Lots to see and do- with changing displays. 2 min walk to main street or shopping centre. Paid parking around the area. Gift shop on site with some lovely ideas.

Not a huge collection, but both the wildlife/nature section and the Māori taonga were very interesting and had some unique and different exhibits. Only complaint was that sometimes the signage was hard to match with the displays.

Take time to visit this museum and library for it will be well worth it. It's free entry and has plenty for everyone. There's great local history and knowledge, the current exhibition on the Permian Monsters is brilliant. With moving exhibits and hands on activities...More

Totally amazed by the current exhibit, pre-dinosaur time. Well thought out, enough information to be appealing but not overwhelming. Maori exhibit upstairs was wonderful.. the whole place just works well on so many levels in.cudimg helpful folk in the I-site.
