Te Puia spans 70 hectares within the historic Te Whakarewarewa Valley, on the edge of town. We are home to the world famous Pohutu geyser, to mud pools, hot springs, to silica formations to the Kiwi bird and the national schools of wood carving, weaving, stone and bone carving. We have shared these treasures with manuhiri (visitors) for 170 years and proudly continue that legacy today.

So expensive for what you see. Very touristic and unauthentic. The gyser is unique but that is the only thing. There is one kiwi there but it sleeps most of the time inside a box in the dark. Not recommended at all!

We took the tour and cultural evening combo. Expected to see a demonstration of carving and weaving but all the staff (bar one) were just sitting and talking a amongst themselves. This part of the tour could be improved on to provide an enhanced experience. Having visited the geysers in 68 I was disappointed but only because I remember them... More

On our tour of New Zealand, we wanted to combine a visit to the Geysers and also to experience the Hangi feast. When we booked this in October, the Saturday (in March) was fully booked, but we were able to book the combined day visit and evening Hangi for the Sunday, which by happy coincidence was my wife's birthday. It... More

Enjoyable attraction with a guided tour of natural geysers. Also has resident kiwi viewing which is kind of a let down since you can't see much as the kiwi is a nocturnal bird. But it's a must see if you are in Rotorua.

I was sceptical, I always am of cultural experiences but I'm glad we did this - and I think our guide (Karl) was what made the experience so enjoyable. The additional information he gave us as we walked around was invaluable and the hour and a half went so quickly. The Haka was okay but that part felt a little... More

I've always wanted to visit New Zealand to see the bubbling mud pools and geysers and today I got to do it. The Te puia cultural centre includes a huge area with thermal springs, bubbling mud pools, water geysers and sulphur vents. It's the most thermally active place in the world and you get up close to all of it.... More

Then Pohutu geuser is worth to see and wait the time. You will hardly see the kiwis as the precinct is very dark (I guess older people won't see anything). Honextly I find it overpriced (51 NZD the cheapest package) if we compare with other world natural landmarks (25 AUD Ayers Rock/The Olgas or 12 Apostles for free). Go to... More

A nice experience walking through the different geysers, and mud pools. Good photo ops. This, and the Maori experiences are what Rotorua is all about.

I did the show and buffet. You get a guided tour of the carving and weaving workshops, a visit to the kiwi house, a cultural show, a buffet dinner, and a visit to the geyser at night. The buffet was only ok, butt the cultural show was awesome. The guides were very pleasant and knowledgable.

We went for the Geyser, we waited from 10am until about 11.30am but it didn't go off, no ones fault but slightly frustrating because there is not much else here to do. We had done a Hangi Feast the night before at another location and been to Wai-O-Tapo so not point in going round the thermal stuff again or joining... More
