Great please in the winter no one there and the fishing is very well most of the time. Just around the corner from the jetty there are Maori rock wall paintings but take your gumboots.

Loved the scenic drive to the Lake and all the surroundings were amazing. Very calm and beautiful to sit and hv a cuppa tea/coffee!

You really need to experience this place and either spend the night or just a day trip. DOC have a campsite so you can camp overnight - toilets available but no other luxuries. For a day trip, I would recommend catching a water taxi out...More

We travelled around the lake with the local postman. His boat was clean and comfortable, but not a luxury cruiser. His knowledge of the area was astounding. He regaled us the stories of the past, as well as visiting the hot water beach.

Must visit lake in Rotorua. Very peaceful and calm. Highly recommended. Families or couples can spend quality time at the lake.

Even on a cold dreary day there is something mystical and magical about this lake. Looking across at Mt Tarawera on the other side you can almost imagine the sight of the top of the mountain erupting all those years ago. Great lake for swimming...More
