A lovely place to just take in the scenery. We had a relaxing picnic by the water and met some locals who gave us some insight into Maori culture

Lake Rotorua is surrounded by rolling hills and is in a delightful setting. There is a lakeside walk where you can observe birds and other wild life; there is plenty of parking nearby.

A lovely lake to view, so peaceful and seems plenty of water sports there at times too. Drove around most of it to get a good look at it.

Stayed in Rotorua for 4 nights and enjoyed the area. Visited a couple of lakes and had a good view of Lake Rotorua from the cable car which takes you up to the Stratosfare restaurant and luge ride etc. You only realise the vast size of the lake when you look down and across it.

We stopped and had our lunch overlooking the lake which was a lovely relaxing and peaceful thing to do. We noticed open water swimmers on what looked a marked course and given more time we would have enjoyed a swim.

The views around this lake are impressive and the swans are easily seen from the shore. The lake is a restful spot to stop and relax a while.
