    Great mountain bike trail
We did the 34km loop on our own electric mountain bikes. It is a well signposted trail, in great condition. We had a fantastic time, 3 hours including time for morning tea. Picturesque, great facilities and the cafe at the Waipā finish point was awesome!

    Cycle through the mountains
Cycling the forest loop is a great way to enjoy the mountain views. The bike shop at the base provides good quality bikes and helmets, and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. E-bikes also available. The 30 km loop is very well sign posted, with water and toilet stops along the way. Allow around 4 hours. Short cuts also sign posted if you get tired half way (me!). A cafe around mid way serves good ( albeit slightly expensive) coffee and snacks. Views are beautiful.

    Amazing Redwood Hike
We did the night time redwood walk on the suspension bridges which was fun. Then we returned the next day and went hiking on the trails. The trails are wide and well maintained and marked. The forest is amazing with a wide variety of plants and we found several of the silver ferns that New Zealand is known for. There are several different trails to choose from.

Do not miss. You will be amazed
We chose to take a walk through the Redwood Forest taking the 30 minute Memorial Track. It was beautiful, it was raining but the tree canopy protected us. Takes you past the old thermal pond which is a photo op. Others did the raised day and night walk and found it equally thrilling. Before doing the walk we stopped for lunch at The Coffee Club and the food was excellent

Enjoyed the Redwoods Day and Night
The Redwoods iSite Visitor Centre is the starting point for most visits to the redwoods. They have a number of trails for walking, biking and horse riding that are all free to explore as well as a detailed map and explanation of each route to say which ones are family friendly and which ones are for more adventurous people. We did the Redwood Memorial Grove Walk which should take half an hour but we stopped to take lots of pictures so it took us around 45 minutes. The one recommended for families takes about 1 hour to walk through and can accommodate prams/strollers. There are quite a few spots to sit along the way to admire the scenery so you may want to consider bringing a quick snack or some water. They have additional experiences which can be paid for at the Visitor Centre and include the tree walk and the Redwoods Altitude. The tree walk costs $39 NZD day or night for adults but there are different ticket packages for families to save a few dollars. The Redwoods Altitude costs $110 NZD for an adult and you have to book ahead for a date and a time. We did the night time tree walk and thoroughly enjoyed the setup with bridges, lanterns and light displays in the redwoods. The visitor centre had good clean bathrooms, a nice gift shop and sold some food items as well. This experience is located on the southeast side of Roturua and there was plenty of parking when we went.

    Moving experience
The redwoods are so majestic, I felt quite moved as I drove through the entrance to the forest upon first sight of them. The staff were all very informative and helpful, special mention to Ken, who took the time to chat and ask about my travels. Really nice man. Will be telling friends and family about this wonderful place.

    Must See
Stunning scenery and space for kids to run around = win! Walking through the ground floor is entirely flat so easy for all ages and push chairs if needed. Lots of opportunity for games of hide and seek and for the kids imaginations to run wild with all sorts of games. Ours went on a wolf hunting expedition. Even in drizzle you are protected from the rain by the canopy. Awesome spot for families.

Don’t miss this on your itinerary
Excellent fun. It had been raining heavy all day when we arrived late afternoon. We decided not to wait for the nighttime light option. Very well constructed and very informative. Staff really friendly and helpful.

    Incredible Experience!
This is an awesome experience with Redwoods! One key recommendation is I would avoid paying for the tree walk. It is not that high and unfortunately a gimmick. If you have kids, this could be fun but otherwise would recommend just doing the free walk. The Redwood Memorial Grove Track is an easy 2km walk that immerses you in the Redwoods, which we found to be much more impressive from the ground. The redwoods and forest are breath-taking. You can easily do this activity in 1-2 hours and pair it with another experience in Rotorua.

    Beautiful walk!
The redwoods are beautiful, amazingly tall and majestic! We did the blue trail which is estimated to take an hour, we did it in about 45 minutes so I think the timing estimations for the trails are a little conservative. Beautiful walk through a beautiful forest.

Amazing forest to walk through for free especially on autumn day but would not have found it good value if we had had to pay. Well worth a visit.

Only 10min drive from the city. We did the shortest walk before we did the treewalk. Very relaxing. The redwoods are babies compared to the Muir Woods in San Francisco but still big enough and worth visiting especially if it’s your first time seeing them. Definitely recommend and it’s free.

Even if you don't have time to do some of the walks, trails etc, this is a great visit. Take a short walk, they are well marked and the trees are amazing. Sundown here was beautiful. Well worth a visit, nice visitor centre and plenty of parking.

This is a nice walk, especially if you haven’t seen large trees like sequoias and redwoods before. It’s very pretty and nice for spending a couple of hours.

We really enjoyed walking around this beautiful forest. We opted for the 1:5 hour quarry loop which was a bit steep in the mid section but was a lovely mixture of terrain. We enjoyed seeing the giant redwoods, tree ferns plus many other indigenous trees. It was great to see both local families and tourists out enjoying the paths and the sunshine.

Nice little cafe on site for a range of savoury and sweet treats - plus plenty of toilets too!

Free to enter - unless you want to do the tree top walk on walkways up in the trees.

Free parking in site - all walks start at the visitor centre and are clearly signposted throughout the walk so no dangers of getting lost!

Fascinating to see these mighty trees and to learn more about them. Doing the tree walk on a walkway about 10 - 15 m up in the trees was a great experience. We didn't get to see the light display, but it is apparently lovely

A beautiful forest to go for a hike. Unfortunately we ran out of time to do a tour but enjoyed a brief walk through the forest. Amazing how well preserved this park is.

We took both the tree walk which was nice, my wife an douggter say, even though i personally have a bit vertigo. But it is only 10-20m up as the forrest is very young. This would be scary in california! Also tool a stroll on the 30min walk which i personally liked better;)
