We were originally booked on the Kaituna trip but due to heavy flows it wasn't running and we were offered the Rangataiki instead. This is a longer trip, usually grade 3-4, but with the higher water levels it was more like 4-5. Guides gave us a good safety briefing, training, and were great fun. Ricky was so kind as to... More

Choose River Rats! As is the case with many activities like this, your experience is heavily influenced by your guides. You can go down the same river with 3 companies and have 3 totally different experiences. Lucky for us, all the guides were great! Hope I remember the names correctly: Ricky, Mike, and Andrew were in the rafts, and the... More

I was nervous as it was my first time rafting. I quickly realized I was in safe hands with the instructor. Towards the end of the trip I was jumping out into the water and did the last rapid floating out of the boat under guide from the instructor. So much fun! Can't wait to raft again. Would recommend River... More

This was a half day trip with return transport from Rotorua. The rapids weren't too hard, definitely good for beginners or first time rafting. The main reason we done this is for the 7m waterfall, and we are glad we did. A 7M waterfall feels a lot bigger and longer when you are in a raft, I managed to be... More

Pick up was provided from our B&B to the office and river. Briefing was well conducted. We were provided with life jacket, helmet, wetsuit, fleece, booties. Cool guides, great photographer. Justin in reservations suggested our family of 8 take the Rangitaiki raft tour. We are so glad he did. Our group ranged from age 9 to "grammie". Josh and Rick made our first experience with white water river rafting pure excitement. There is a thrill going through those rapids. They made sure we were safe at all times. They pointed... More

Thank you for your review. Great to hear you enjoyed your trip. I assume your youngest was 10 as this is the minimum age for the trip and is what you put on your online booking form. More

My husband and I took a kayak trip a morning while in rotorua and it was awesome! River rats picked us up from our hotel on time and were lovely to be with. The kayak tour was around lake rotatiti and there was hardly anyone on the lake but us. Andrew was fantastic and he took us to see glow... More

River rats are great! They make sure you have a lot of fun while out on the river as well as making sure you stay safe! I did it alone and I went in a raft with a group of girls that all knew each other but our guide Justin really made sure we all had a great time and... More
