Drove over to the sight with friends. It was fun to walk out and over the falls head waters. It was a beautiful walk, but not accessible from our car park for those with mobility issues. Lots of wild chickens to greet you at the...More

It costs nothing to visit here, so expect a lot of people. If you like waterfalls, visit this one. Not the largest, but impressive. Kayakers have a really good view. If you are at the top of the falls on the rocks surrounding the falls,...More

We used coastal kayakers to kayak up the river to the fall which was fun as you could get right up into the falls but they aren’t anything that special and definitely wouldn’t have been worth the unscenic walk to them. So my advice would...More

We were on the way back from Paihia, and decided to take a look. The falls, whilst quite impressive, don't compare with many of the ones that we saw on the South Island, but still worth a detour. There were a few people in kayaks...More

We took the car and parked at the falls and then walked down river for a few miles. This is an easy hike and very pretty. I highly recommend it if you are not looking very strenuous I hiking experience.

This is a 5km each way walk from Waitangi Treaty Grounds. The first 2km is quite uninteresting but once you reach the bridge and the boardwalk through the mangroves it’s far more scenic. Wear decent shoes because the track is rough in places including tree...More

The falls wasn't really that impressive in person for us compared to in pictures. For the falls to be at full size/width, I read that it happens after the area has some rain.

This is a part of New Zealand that you must not miss. If you like history or just stunning scenery this is the place for you. You can tell I like it, I have been here several times and want to come again.

Very Small water fall so not worth it if you are only going there to look at it. But the lake around it is nice to kayak in.

No overnight camping at the car park that I could see when visited last week. There is the Falls Motel & Waterfront Campground on Puketona Road, perhaps look up their website if you’re still interested in a paid camp site...
