The bay is just beautiful. Very accessible from the road with parking. You can wander the waterfront with its eateries and shops, walk on sand or swim or kayak.

good opportunitiues to book tours in the area. sit and zip a drink on the shore. other restaurant, bars are in walking distance so one can also have breakfast nearby. if you feel so go and swim nearby or go with a SUV

Sorry we were not there for New Years Eve - spent it in Auckland. Great fireworks there from the Sky Tower building!
