spent the morning checking out the Paihai harbour both on foot then a ferry to Russell. A busy hub with restaurants, fishing charters landing their catch and tourists from all over the world. There was a cruise ship anchored off shore and tenders were busy transporting the passengers to shore

Our cruise ship anchored off here and we had a shuttle bus to Paihia. It is a pretty place to wander about with plenty of bars, cafes and shops. If you want free wifi go and sit right next to the library and you can connect even from outside! We got the ferry across to Russell which was lovely. There... More

The harbour area of Paihia, has many restaurants & bars with superb views over the Bay. It's a great place to while away a few hours or book tickets for excursions.

Friendly people and great to chat to. From the Harbour we took the slow Ferry , about 25 minutes to Russell Island. Great place good food and lovely people ....seems to be the norm in NZ....us Brits could learn a lot from the Kiwis.

We spent 4 days of celebrating our wedding anniversary in this tranquil and diverse island scattered location. The boat tours and coastal hikes were incredible. Be ready to spend a little extra cash for some memorable souvenirs in local gift shoppes to brag to your friends.

The setting is simply stunning. The Harbour itself didn't really have much to offer than a large information site for activities.
