We enjoyed this small town in three days we stayed here. There are lots of restaurants from cheap and cheerful to good dining. The Waitangi treaty ground museum is nearby and a 15 minute ferry brings you across the Victorian town of Russell and its...More

Paihia was okay but we took a ferry across to Russell. It was reasonably fast and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Russell was a prettier place.

We were lucky enough to be an Air BnB with quite astonishing views of the Harbour but we also got out on the harbour on a ferry ride. If you're anywhere near it's definitely worth getting on the ferry that runs from Paihia to Russel...More

We took the ferry over to Russell for breakfast. It was a beautiful morning and the cruise ships were gone. Stopped and had muesli with fruit, a muffin and some espresso. The waitress was friendly and service was quick. Then we strolled around the town...More

Very scenic bay with a relaxed laid back atmosphere. It has tropical Queensland vibes. A great place to kick back in a cafe or restaurant and stare out at boats coming and going in the harbour.

We passed through this area briefly again after many years and it was divine. It was a perfect day, the sun made the sea glisten and I wished I was staying longer. However it was enough of a reminder to make me plan a trip...More

Our cruise ship dropped into this beautiful coastal area on the east coast of the Nth Island, N.Z. It was a lovely coastal region on a very sunny day where the Royal Caribbean - Ovation of the Seas had to anchor in the bay and...More

It's a real tourist trap. It has a cheesy, honky tonk feel to it. It's like a Middle East Bazzar. Everyone is trying to sell you something. You can stay in Russell or Kerikeri and begin your tours from there.

The lovely scenery is why one wants to linger here, great views of the water and the hills, an extensive bay.

Sorry we were not there for New Years Eve - spent it in Auckland. Great fireworks there from the Sky Tower building!
