Paihia is beautiful. Every visit is just mind blowing. The harbour is beautiful. The line of restaurants and shops are gorgeous. Great food and tour options are available too. Also the waitangi grounds too is just the corner.

The harbour area is worth visiting and is directly adjacent to the main shopping, dining and entertainment areas. The harbour is accessible to all and is very well maintained. Several firms operate sightseeing boats and the chance to see/swim with the dolphins in the bay....More

Small charter for fishing is ideal. One on one and not too crowded which makes for an enjoyable time.

Our accommodations had beautiful views overlooking the harbour. There are B&B's, motels and hotels to fit all budgets. Some good restaurants too. Safe to walk along the beach.

Sorry we were not there for New Years Eve - spent it in Auckland. Great fireworks there from the Sky Tower building!
