This trip was a highlight on our recent trip to the Bay of Islands.
Mike and the crew kindly took us on board after a mix up with a another boat trip and we were so glad they did!

The trip is a beautifully chilled way to see some
of New Zealand’s coast.

Not only did they make everyone feel safe and comfortable, Mike and his wife Debbi made sure to go round and chat with all the passengers, showing genuine care and interest when they did.

The trip was relaxed and fun with the right amount of time spent on the island and sailing.
There was plenty of room for everyone on board and our group was filled with a friendly, relaxed and fun bunch of people who made the day all the better.

{ Yet it felt like there was no pressure to mingle if you wanted to keep to yourself! }

Mike, Debbi and Robert made sure we had everything before venturing onto the island and even providing us with snorkels and crocs.

Once on the island we were left to explore and walk around with the option to snorkel too.
Snorkelling was so great, and we got to see a range of sealift from Stingrays to octopus!
Though we were last minute additions to the group, there was plenty of food to go round and the crew even made sure to cater to a gluten free diet despite our last minute addition.

Highly recommend this trip for a chilled yet great days activity with a wonderful crew!

What a great sailing Bay of Islands experience it was from 10 am till 6 pm! Great knowledgeable captain, great long sailboat, great snacks, and food. When the sails went up (we all helped!) it took me back to the last century when great adventurers went to explore the sea. When we anchored at a secluded bay the captain made sure we had enough time to snorkel and swim, to explore the island and to enjoy the amazing views from the top of the hill. Definitely one of the best sailboats, especially being designed only for small groups of people who love good adventure!

I had an incredible day sailing with Mike on the Gungha II. The experience was great and one that I would really recommend it to anyone looking for a full day experience in the Bay of Islands - even for solo travelers like me. He and his skipper took great care of our group, from providing constant snacks (which I love) to answering all of our (read: my) questions about the Bay of Islands, to pointing out blue penguins, and more. Mike sailed us toward Robertson Island, and once there, we jumped off the boat and swam (or took a boat) to the island, which we then had about two hours to explore. Mike and crew provided snorkeling equipment for exploring the lagoon, and there was a small hike people could do to a viewpoint, as well. The provided lunch was tasty (and included dessert!) and the sail back was just perfect. Truly a great day and an experience I'll never forget. 10/10 would recommend!

Nice and relaxing, safe, excellent host and of course the beautiful bay of islands. The beaches and islands were lovely, we also had Dolphins come up to the boat and race along side us which was a bonus, before they scooted away and found someone else to play with. Snorkeling was a nice addition. Most of all I appreciated that this wasn't breaking the bank. I've looked at going sailing for many years and usually it's three times the price. They include lunch and liquid and a few snacks. It's actually a bargain. Highly recommended lovely relaxing day out.

6 hours on a sailboat - heaven - and what a boat it is! Gungha II is a gorgeous, long sailboat. There were about 20 of us onboard. Beautiful and delicious fruit and cheese passed undersail. Captain Mike and Lucy provided a wonderful experience. The motor was only on for maybe 10 minutes. Then the sails went up! Wow! We anchored for lunch, allowing us plenty of time to snorkel (good equipment provided) and do some beachcombing and hiking. Great sandwich lunch with chocolates passed. Plenty of time for lounging and taking in the scenery. Highly recommended! A must on your BOI itinerary.

This sailing excursion was the highlight of our cruise in New Zealand/Bay of Islands. Captain Mike and his Daughter Misha were incredible and listening to their stories of sailing the world was an extra bonus. Lunch and snacks were amazing and the sailing was incredible. The beach stop and hike had stunning views and great snorkeling.

If you like to sail or are just wanting to get out on the water in The Bay of Islands this is a must do!

If you're in Russell or Paihia, this is the trip I would really recommend. Tge boat left from Paihia but ferry transfers were included from Russell which timed perfectly for the main excursion. Being on a sail boat the group is smaller and Mike and staff were amazing with great stories.
The food served throughout the day was so fresh and tasty, we were all kept well fed.
Bonus that we even saw a pod of dolphins. You won't be disappointed with this tour of the Bay Islands

We really enjoyed this day trip. The yacht went to parts of the harbour that you don’t normally see. Mike the skipper had great local knowledge which he shared. We stopped at Roberton Island for a walk and snorkel. The harbour can be quite windy so make sure to take something warm with you. Highly recommend

Excellent day on a wonderful real yacht, with a fantastic skipper who really knows how to get the best from the available conditions. Mike has clearly learned heaps from life and his 27 seasons in Paihia. Thanks for a great day Mike. Robert was a great Mate, cook and dogsbody, thanks for the great snacks and lunch. I've never enjoyed popcorn so much.
