Although not as big as Kelly Tartons in Auckland it provides much better value for money. Especially the "lab" is very educational and the kids spent quite a bit of time there. Loved the mermaid meet and great too which had the kids mesmerised. Certainly...More

The penguins are always popular and so to are our Kiwi, who are a pleasant surprise for many as they are not your usual aquarium exhibit. Thank you for visiting the National Aquarium of New Zealand

Spent 1.5 hrs with twins (5) there after 6 hrs at ocean spa. Excellent stop for both sunny and rainy days. Not too big or exhausting.

We visited with two 5 year olds and they enjoyed it. Plenty of fish and the tunnel where they swim overhead was a hit. We saw the penguins being fed too. It is rather small but what they offer on display is nice. And it...More

Hadn't visited for a few years, but not a lot had changed from my memory. We managed to make it in time for the penguin feeding. That was pretty cool. But the rest of the visit didn't actually take that long. I wondered if we...More

Conveniently situated right on the front this aquarium is up there with the best. Just a word of warning - they close at 5 p.m. even at the height of season. Allow about 2 -3 hours to see everything.

Yes, there was a rainy day in Napier! Lots of marine life to get up close with. Lots of variety and just loved watching the little penguins swimming around. The pool full of swimming turtles was awesome. Kids loved it - especially the sharks.

The aquarium is presented well with creative displays. My partner and I paid extra to do the penguin encounter which was very informative about the great care for these little animals and of course was very special feeding them some fish! Highly recommended!

Hi, we had no problems with size, group ranging from 110kgs to 80kgs. Very accommodating instructor ensuring we were comfortable and well briefed. Take a camera for some great close ups of the sharks. Enjoy!
