Actually it was pretty good for a regional attraction, the tanks were not quite up to the highest standard but ok and the penguins were great, all until we reached the turtle. The poor thing is very large and swims round and round in a...More

It is interesting and education and affords a good opportunity to view up close marine and land/marine creatures I normally only see in photos or movies; but I did not feel these fish, turtles and other creatures get a good go in terms of quality...More

A most fascinating time exploring the habitats of all these wonderful creatures, fish, penguins, turtles, lizards, I really enjoyed our time there yesterday. My favourites were the little blue penguins, and the really big turtle. I found the experience inspiring, and a real asset for Napier.

Very well set out. Loved the penguins and the shark feeding time. Loved the stingray, penguins and the kiwi. Good cafe and gift shop.

Open 9-5 daily, a visit to the National Museum will be a nice stop in Napier. Traveling with children, then it's a sure thing. Even though it's the largest aquarium I'm New Zealand, it is rather small in size. If you're interested in swimming with...More

Blue penguins up close and personal were fabulous. Also good to see kiwis and underwater walkway was not bad though not much in the tank. Mixed fish from all over the world in the same tanks which seemed odd thing to do. Not enough on...More

It's an ok price and staff are lovely but we were in and out in an hour and that was only because we made it to see the sharks being feed. The penguin enclosure seemed a bit sad...the penguins stood with their backs to us...More

This is a mainly well thought out, interesting, exhibition of sea life. BUT the large turtle in the small enclosure was awful. The excuse used on the sign for the small size of the aquarium in which he lived was that the water had to...More

It's small, and some of the tanks seem too small for the exhibits, but there's an opportunity to see kiwis. There about 6 fairy penguins which surf the water exhausts. They're rescue penguins and can never return to the wild, so are well looked after....More

I visit this place regularly and am always impressed with this fabulous venue. One of the best ‘tourist’ attractions I have visited, the aquarium is somewhere where families, couples, singles, all can experience our marine environment. Some of the most active kiwis I’ve ever seen!!!!

Hi, we had no problems with size, group ranging from 110kgs to 80kgs. Very accommodating instructor ensuring we were comfortable and well briefed. Take a camera for some great close ups of the sharks. Enjoy!
