We don't agree with the tourist hype about this being an energetic entertainment and dining area. Have seen more interesting areas in lots of other cities. We found parking very hard to find, and the coffee very average (like a lot of NZ unfortunately). Don't...More

I love Ponsonby, the small and classy shops down Ponsonby road make for a fun and exciting day shopping! There is also a Bakery on Ponsonby road that is absolutely to die for. Heaps of art and history to look at in this serene pop...More

This area has the best of both worlds. There are so many restaurants and cafes along Ponsonby Road that you are spoiled for choice. I like to park my car at one end of Ponsonby and take a leisurely walk from one end of the...More

After being disappointed with Queens st our friendly concierge encouraged us to take a trip to Ponsonby St. It is a very long beautiful street with a variety of shops. We love bookstores and we're pleased to find several, including a woman's bookshop which I...More

Creative culture (amazing murals and graffiti art), art galleries, high fashion and vintage clothing, boutique shops, an organic produce market, eateries serving world cuisine and buzzling nightlife - all this is epitomised in that inner-city suburb.

This would be something like an Old Town in Auckland. Not sure if this part is really old or not, but it feels that way. As oppose to the modern shiny waterfront and very formal Queen street, this place is full of odd and weird...More

Ponsonby Road is worth a wander around. Lots of interesting shops, cafes for coffee and snacks, and a range of restaurants. I had last been here several years ago and it has matured nicely (including development of Ponsonby Central -- an urban shopping area with...More

Interesting street with a mix of high end shops and eateries. Certainly some truth in the PonSnobby label it attracts but worth a visit if you have time to kill.

Unless you are really in to food and clothes, it is just a nice and long walk down ponsonby road and K road back into town. There used to be more interesting second hand furniture and collectables, but I think they must be being priced...More

Try Dizengof in Ponsonby road (think that is correct spelling). Very good selection, be prepared for it to be busy but have a look upstairs as it often has available seating. Delicious food, reasonable prices.
