We had read the tourist information on this market and it sounded fantastic. What we found was terrible. Three, maybe four cafes/restuarants were open - but empty - staff wandering around looking lost. Mostly empty shops. The few shops we did see with stock in them were firmly shut, despite the notices on the doors saying "Open 7 days". We... More

This was a lively place on a sunny summer weekend morning with most of the ground floor units open as well as market stalls. Goods on offer included clothes, crafts, linens, accessories, food, coffee etc with plenty of individual shops and stall holders eager to talk about their craft or wares and a good band playing in the open air... The market seems newly remodeled not long age, but all I saw were empty units, unlively units, and few restaurants... I was expecting something more interesting.

We were very underwhelmed by this market. On our Monday morning visit we found only two shops open, one of which had 50% off of everything which suggests it won't be there for much longer! There were a handful of eateries and some funky offices, but certainly nothing worth hanging around for.

The Victoria Park Market has changed so much. It's still a great place to go when you are in Auckland city but the atmosphere has changed so much. Pity as we walk around there were also offices so that made less retail and food outlets for us visitors. There's also development going on in the car park so hopefully we... More

We had a hard time finding it, there were a lot of empty stalls, the food was expensive, there was no entertainment to speak of... This was nothing like the travel guides described it. I would not go out of my way to visit, although if you're in the area it would be an okay place to visit

Well this place has changed, it used to be a bustling tourist attraction with a fair amount of good shops and some terrible ones. We had not visited for a while but when we heard it had been re-vamped off we went! The grounds sure look good, but the shops are a huge let down, this place is no longer... More

We actually wanted to visit a fresh and wet market, thinking of indulging in the busy and crowded environment where people would gather to buy groceries, vegetables and fruits, poultry products, fresh flowers etc. So came across the name of this place on the city map and thus decided to dropby for a visit (regrettably we did not ask for... A lot has changed down here since my last visit 8 years ago. There seems to be a mini revival going on and it is moving in the right direction. There are some nice shops and eateries now popping up and it seems there is a new lease of life going on here. Worth a visit still.

At this upmarket ehm ... market, the rather fancy stallholders take the time that they need to start breaking up their displays very seriously, so please mind that you don't get in their way: they're in a hurry to get rid of the pesky shoppers. Also avoid the exorbitantly expensive coffee (which costs more in a paper cup than you... More
