We spent time here as part of a day tour of Auckland. It was charming; the library has good WiFi and the coastline is lovely. It was quite cool and windy when we were there, so we went for coffee in one of the quaint cafes.

I took the ferry and signed up for a tour around town. Excellent driver, lots of details. He obviously loves the area. Nice shops to explore as well.

Just a short ferry trip to Devonport and why not stay a night or 2. Nice cafes, restaurant and even see a movie once you have seen the shops and sights. No car necessary just walk and/or stroll around. You deserve it.

My husband and I took an early morning Sunday ferry from Auckland. The view of the Harbor is very nice. The road along the Devonport shoreline is dotted with charming houses, restaurants, shops, cafes..... We climbed Mt. Victoria and then walked to the Naval Museum, winding in and out of neighborhoods so we could see the gardens. On a nice... More

Take the ferry across from central Auckland to Devonport and walk along the seafront towards North Head. On the way back from North Head, stroll around the cricket ground there and you will find some interesting backstreets, eventually reaching the beach on the other side of the peninsula. There are some great views of Rangitoto from there, and it's extremely... More

Fabulous day trip out of Auckland via the ferry for some very pleasant hiking for some great views of the harbor and city. We also took in the Naval Museum and had lunch at their cafe hiking North Point. Do all 3 walks there, it is worth it! From the top all the way down to the seashore around the... More

This is a nice little town with great views across the harbour to Auckland waterfront. There are many cafes and restaurants and of course the ferry station to Auckland and the islands. Avoid late afternoon when the navy base traffic comes out.

Devonport is quaint, has historical interest, has charming sights, and a few special places. Best to enjoy it at a leisurely pace, and not get overenthusiastic at some of the local offerings - the chocolate shop, for example, is just that, no more. Focus on the scenery and the views, and enjoy the less hectic pace, a stone's throw away... More

Across to Davenport by ferry to meet our waiting mini coach and guide. Traveling around Davenport it is not difficult to see why this town is so popular. Great little shopping centre.
