We crossed the Cook Straits recently on a Bluebridge Ferry. The ferry was modern, clean with comfortable seats and great coffee. Check in was easy and friendly. The journey is fabulous and the cruise of the inner passage spectacular. A couple of points. You check your luggage in for the journey – much like an airline – and this service... More

Was deciding between interislander and bluebridge, went with bluebridge as the terminal was located closer to the city and their fares were cheaper. The check-in was hassle free and when you get onboard there are clear signs on where you're suppose to go. The ferry departed timely and it was a smooth, comfortable trip throughout. You could get on top... More

Used bluebridge to cross from Picton to Wellington with our campervan. Staff were friendly however was a slight delay to drive onto the ferry but we still arrived in Wellington on time. Good sized cafe however more seats needed in seating areas - struggled to find two seats together. Movie rooms a good idea to pass the time.

We checked in with Bluebridge in the afternoon as we had all our luggage and were not boarding until 11 that night - they were super friendly, helpful, kept our luggage for us all day so we could go see the sights of Wellington. The boarding was a bit delayed, but not a big deal. Once they escorted us on... More

Bluebridge are the best cook straight carrier by far. I saved nearly 50% compared to the inter islander, and had a great crossing. It may be 20 minutes slower, but well worth it. The staff are friendlier, the facilities better and the boat cleaner, the best way to the other side.

We incurred a $60 surcharge from our car rental company, because the Bluebridge ferry was 75 minutes late leaving Wellington. That pushed us into out of office hours by 15 minutes for picking up our car. The weather was excellent for the crossing, there was no mechanical problem, we boarded on time. But Bluebridge could not board its vehicles in... More

Hi midmore123 Thank you for your message. As mentioned in our communication with you we take our on time performance very seriously and from time to time we do experience delays which are out of our control. In your case the ship arrived late into Wellington prior to the loading for your sailing as the tides were simply against us.... More

Crossed from Picton to Wellington with a school group - great entertainment with movie theatre and super friendly staff - especially the one who gave us free hot chips!

The public areas are clean and we had plenty of seat choices. There was no queues for food and drinks. BUT when we came to collect our camper van it was covered in a sticky oily dirt and was very hard to wash of. As we were at the rear we can only assume it was from the ships funnels.

Hi old_romantics_2000, Thank you for your review and it is good to hear that everything was to your liking onboard. I cannot be 100% sure but the sticky dirt you are referring to may have come from the funnels as there is sometimes a build of what I will call "soot" that will dispense when the ship is fired up,... First time using Bluebridge as I normally use the Interislander, was rather harshly told to check in my small airline hand baggage size case due to lack of space. Had to remove half the contents, laptop and valuables in a rush. Turns out the boat is very spacious so see no reason I shouldn't have been able to bring it... More

Hi Rosie22London_UK, Thank you for your review, however it is disappointing to hear that your experience was such that you will not use our service in the future. We do limit the amount of luggage that is carried onboard to one small carry-on per person, mainly due to passenger comfort and safety as we do tend to find that any... More
