Yagan Square opened with fanfare in 2018 but now the trumpets are virtually silent. Visited Monday, 12/09/22 and again on the following day. On both occasions the area almost totally devoid of pedestrians. Part of the area hoarded, probably the much-vaunted revamp touted by the State Government is underway. Apparently pedestrian numbers were less than forecast and the pandemic lockdowns and restrictions delivered the killer blow to many businesses. Main interests for me when I visited included the Digital Tower, Wirin sculpture and the lengthy water feature called 'Waterline'. Hopefully the revamp will be successful and attract the necessary volume of visitors to build success.

Yagan Square is a good place to meet friends. This well-known square in the eastern section of Perth, between the Perth Station and one of Perth's best-loved attractions, the Horse Shoe Bridge. Yagan Square is quite large, it's 1,1 ha (almost 3 acres). THe light tower is always interesting. By the way, Yagan was a Noongar warrior, who led the Aboriginal people who opposed Btitish settlement.

Yagan Square is an area of Perth that commemorates Yagan(1795-1833), an early Aboriginal opponent of British settlement.. Yagan was a Noongar warrior who confronted the British colonists. Yagan Square is in Wellington Street, near the Busport and the Horseshoe Bridge. The Square is around 1,1 ha (3 acres). It's a meeting place for the people of Perth, a new centre for the city.

I've really TRIED to like this development...but I just can't.

An earlier reviewer said it lacked flow and ambience; I agree on both counts.

The idea to reconnect the city with Northbridge is a good one but the execution is off the mark. Market Hall is an uninviting building with limited and expensive food options inside. The design of the building puts me in mind of a stockade or fortifications.

A fresh food market hall, ala Adelaide's, might have been a better fit on this site.

The current development has a forbidding and unwelcoming quality. I note too that hardly anyone uses the public spaces on top of and behind Market Hall.

At another level the built structures significantly blot out views of the elegant Horseshoe Bridge.

I "get" that Yagan Square is a bold and award winning piece of architecture and design, but it's not an engaging space for people, at least not for me.

Yagan Square is a spacious open area between Northbridge and the city centre (Wellington Street). It is adjacent to the Perth Train Station. I gather it is used for special events but on the day I walked through there was nothing special on. Would I walk through Yagan Square at night - no, no, no. Safer in daylight.

Spent a few hours exploring Yagan Square & appears to attract more crowds late afternoon & evenings. Some interesting spots to explore with many cafe's & restaurants & minutes away from Northbridge by foot.

we were staying a night in the city, my daughter wanted to go for a walk, and we ended up at Yagan Square. Lots of people around, interesting places to eat, and that night they were selling show bags, fairy floss, had games all set up. My daughter loved it . We did leave as it got dark though, although the police presence would make families feel safe at night :)

Yagan was a Noongar (Aboriginal) warrior who harrassed the early settlers of the Swan River Colony. Yagan Square is in downtown Perth, it is usually lively, There is a big round structure that displays pictures. Yagan Square is in Welllington Street, on the way to Northbridge, Perth's entertainment district..
