Lygon Street houses the city's main concentration of Italian restaurants and gelato outlets. It's on the hop on/off bus or tram routes or you can walk there from the CBD. There are lots of places to choose from for lunch or dinner and it's pretty...More

There are some great shops and a handful of very good restaurants. You have to be selective about where you eat and drink. Not what it used to be but go to see the experience of an Italian precinct

Some if the Lygon Street restaurants and cafes are passé and dated. Spruiking is annoying and frequent, particularly toward the city end of Lygon St, and there is a lot of very boring Italian fare (think ham and pineapple pizza, carbonara etc). However, amongst these...More

It is hard to stand out as a restaurant in Lygon Street, and our decision to eat had as much to do by being given time to view the menu as the menu being different. The chairs were too hard to sit and relax and...More

Just go here for the sprooking, Hawker’s, street fare, Ferraris and food. And go for fun. The people watching is a blast. Eat Italian, nothing else, in Lygon St.

I just love, love, love this street. There are so many eating options and everything is wonderful. Because the competition is strong all of the restaurants have to be good to survive. The street culture is superb with a European feel.

Love Lygon St. A great people watching place. Food and drinks especially good value. We love Cornetto's. They do entrée size pastas from $10-$14. Yummy.

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
