Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

    Nice to Look At
This is best viewed from across the street. Mind all the people and traffic so you don't get run over. There is no access inside the building unless you're doing some train travel because everything is gated and has turnstiles that require tickets. It's a messy and noisy place as well so we did not feel very comfortable being here. You could just as easily visit the church across the street (St. Paul's) and then look back at the station.

See you "under the clocks" at Flinders St
Flinders Street Station is a railway station. It is located at the corner of Flinders Street and Swanston Street. Since its construction in 1909, it has been a Melbourne icon. Its Art Nouveau style has been a characteristic of the City ever since. It has many interesting features. Flinders Street has been Melbourne's main suburban train station for over 100 years. The Ballroom, for years a place of recreation for railway workers, is now an exhibition space. The eastern external wall has a mural by Mirka Mora, one of the country's pioneering modernist artists. "See you under the clocks at Flinders Street" has been a greeting for generations of Melburnians.

    Travel hub
Travelled via Flinders Street with my wife and family on many occasions whilst visiting Melbourne. It is the central hub for travel all over the city and beyond. The building itself is stunning, with easy signage to find your destination, simple click in/click out service providing a maximum daily cost via the MIKA card. There are plenty of shops, food stalls and restaurants for every taste.

A very impressive and historical building with plenty of signage . Staff should be spread out more ready to help people as on two diff times I noticed they were all clumped together having mad chats. More security needed as it was a bit scary having a druggy giving everyone the finger and yelling at them ( around 2 pm ) while he was sitting on the front steps. Also skater boys jumping from the station inside down the stairs and being filmed by mates . The problem with Melbourne is the lack of POLICE and security .

Bustling station, sits next to the just as busy tram stops on either side.
Building is quite impressive as a whole, tons of eateries to choose from.

A icon in CBD, the historical train station keeps working now to provide the public transportation service to people. Good place to take some photos. Enjoy.

It’s been a long time since my last visit to Melbourne so wanted the iconic photo at the front of the station. It’s kinda dirty, a few homeless around and it’s a quick photo op

Located in probably the busiest hub, of the CBD, is this historic, very very busy train station, however, well worth a visit.

What a beautiful station. And check out the photo I took at nighttime. Simply beautiful. The inside is a bit shabby and the staff were really quite grumpy.
