Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

Great atmosphere, amazing selection of whiskeys, and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend not only for whiskey drinkers as there's a range of other drinks.

Came here for one of their whisky classes (Japanese session) and was well presented, full of knowledge and a lot of fun. The whisky offerings are of top quality with some rare hard to find tastings. The whisky room upstairs is well decorated which sets up an excellent vibe.

Would highly recommend their whisky masterclasses and has a stake in claiming Melbourne’s best whisky bar.

Quiet boilermaker with an interdependently bottled Ledaig in low lit ambience. We're very lucky to have this place in our city.

If you remember, I did mention that my friend, Choong, was in Melbourne. We kept in touch throughout and planned to meet up when I was in Melbourne city. So.. after the awesome dinner in MoVida Aqui, we walked back to our apartment - full, happy but tired. I settled the kids and tasked the other half to put them to bed while I headed off to my appointment with Choong.

I'd been meaning to hit one of the best whisky place in town, and Choong agreed to meet me in Whisky & Alement. It took me about 20 min++ walk from the apartment to the whisky bar, while just simply took Uber. I had known him for quite some time by then, when my interest in Glendronach led me to know him but unbeknownst to me, he was more into wine business.

It was always a happy affair to meet up with someone whom I can talk to about anything... The bar was packed with whisky lovers when we arrived yet we managed to get a table. Attended by a friendly and knowledgeable personnel, both of us had a whisky flight each... Based on our preference. Needless to say, we had a great time catching up although we seldom see each other while in KL.

I had to say this.. but my experience here was a great one. Whisky lovers must come here at least once to experience the hospitality of Australian.

Whiskey of every type and brand line the walls. Their happy hour from 4-8 has a great offering of Pilsner and a shot of whiskey for $13. But their other drinks are expensive and the menu falsely advertises the prices. The menu says Pilsner is $3 but when you order it the staff charges $8. They didn’t bother to explain until a half hour later when we were leaving that the $3 is for a small taste and the $8 is for the regular size—even though it is not stated that way on the menu.
The staff only seem interested in serving the whiskey passionate guests.

Hi Creativecrew, we proudly offer ponies of pilsner for $3 as a cleanser between whiskies and a low alcohol option, these are not intended as a 'happy hour deal'. Pilsner on tap is available in two sizes, $3/150ml and $8/330ml. We're sorry you misunderstood the menu and will endeavour to make it clearer in the future. We're sad to see that the misunderstanding reflected poorly on your first experience and would welcome any feedback you might have to ensure this experience is not repeated for future patrons.

Attended a Whisky tasting at Melbourne Whisky room on the weekend and couldn't fault it. Well worth the money. The stories behind the whiskys were amazing will definitely be back for another.

We enjoyed a quiet drink here on a Sunday night but my husband assures me it can also be packed with a really energised vibe. Personally, I liked the quiet evening. Low Key Lighting, good music and as the photo of the bar shows - amazing range of beverages - not just alcoholic ones. We'll be back.
