Description:

Port Campbell National Park is world famous for its extraordinary...

Port Campbell National Park is world famous for its extraordinary collection of wave-sculpted rock formations and the Twelve Apostles. Loch Ard Gorge, site of the 19th century shipwreck 'Loch Ard', as well as the Island Archway and London Bridge are other highlights. The Island Archway collapsed in 2009, highlighting the fragile and ever-changing nature of Victoria's coastline. Start your visit by heading to the Twelve Apostles Kiosk and Carpark before taking the walk to view the amazing Twelve Apostles coastline. The site offers kiosk, information, shelter and toilets. Walk the short distance (500m) through a tunnel under the Great Ocean Road to various lookouts offering expansive, breathtaking views. From the Twelve Apostles carpark there is also an easy 2.2km return walk to Gibson Steps Lookout. The lookout is above the beach with excellent views East and West. Port Campbell National Park lies between Princetown and Peterborough, 285 km west of Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road (4-5 hours drive), and 240 km from Melbourne via Colac.

I thought that this beautiful ocean drive is equal to any in the world-the Croatian Adriatic, Amalfi Coast, Big Sur and Oregon in the US. On a 16 day trip around Australia we found it least equal or better even than Uluru-Ayers Rock, the Blue Mountains and the Great Barrier Reef. We enjoyed the quaint towns and little villages with... I have taken at least four drives down the GOR. It never ceases to impress me. I love that there are many coves to stop at. Some are not beach-accessible, but the view from the cliff-top is very beautiful too.

Well worth the drive to see the view. Not a sunny day but the misted cleared just in time. I'm from England and am so pleased I got to see this. Walkways are very good so is the parking and information centre

Took an overseas visitor last year. They were impressed by the lovely drive along the Great Ocean Road and especially the 12 Apostles in the ocean.

550 km round trip from Melbourne. Road is twisted and rough at times, one person in my bus threw up out the window. The sights (once we cleaned off the pukey window) were worth it. Wild Koalas in trees. Wild parrots, red and green. Wild ducks. The 12 apostles rock formation. Once in a life time adventure.

By far my favourite place in the state of Victoria. Beautiful scenery. Its actually hundreds of kilometres from Melbourne. Full of forests and sparkling but very rough beaches. Not the best place for swimming. Great for surfing.

There are various attractions within this National Park, with the Apostles being the most well known. Hence it is can get very busy, so you need to choose your visiting time well to avoid the crowds - we were there around Chinese New Year and it was very congested. There are however many other spectacular sights to appreciate as you... More

I love Port Campbell National Park and have visited that area more than 10 times with all my overseas friends visiting us in their trips. The 12 apostles is the number 1 for all visitors.
