The landmark Regent Theatre holds a key part in our city’s history since opening as a grand picture palace in 1929. Having survived a fire, a flood, 20 years in darkness and many threats of demolition, the venue reopened in August 1996, meticulously refurbished and returned to its breathtaking former glory.Today it stands more lavish and grand than ever and continues to host some of the world’s most renowned theatre productions.

We chose to sit in the dress circle as it usually provides an excellent view of the orchestra however, in the production of My Fair Lady, it was not possible to see any of the members of the orchestra, only the conductor. Very disappointing. Upstairs...More

This theatre is stunning. It has very elaborate decoration and some very "genteel" touches such as old worldly and elegant powder rooms.

We went here to see My Fair Lady and while the show was very good, not the best I've seen but still very good, this theatre is lovely and it is fabulous in a city like Melbourne where we sometimes throw out the old and...More

My Fair Lady is such a fantastic classic musical. The Melbourne show did not let us down. We were a bit sceptical as to how the cast would stack up to the likes of Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn, but they all did a marvellous...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air

Hi Liz. We ate at Terra Rosa. We booked an early dinner so we could eat before our show. It literally is just around the corner. Hope this helps

I am not too sure of the view from these seats. I always go up stairs. Fabulous show. I am sure that you will enjoy it though.
What seats are better in Regent? Any seats on the side of stalls or 15 rows back in stalls in centre section?

Don't sit anywhere near the centre towards the back of the theatre. We did and our view of the show was almost totally blocked by heads in front.
